About this deal

Actually there are a lot of different things going on that will keep the reader guessing at the truth. There are the drugs but there also appears to be an insurance scam. Toss in a rumor of hidden treasure to keep things interesting. As other reviewers have pointed out there are a lot of bad guys and gals. You really don't know who you can trust or believe. Perhaps too many bad guys for a small town but with the drug addicts and dealers this isn't Mayberry. Suffice to say, once a cop, always a cop, and Amos, who is now working in a special task force for the FBI, can’t leave the strange things he saw around a neighbor’s home alone. So he goes to investigate. And what he finds there will bring his holiday crashing down around him with force. In 2020, Baldacci launched his own podcast, “David Baldacci’s Power of Story,” where he interviews fellow authors and discusses the craft of writing.

All this puts the populace in a dark mood, and most people blame John Baron, the last remaining descendant of the town's founder. The populace believes John's grandfather, a mean-spirited scrooge, let the town die, and they resent the only remaining family member. Kudos, Mr. Baldacci for keeping the series strong and the stories sharp. I look forward to each new book you have and can assure you that I remain a fervent fan of all your work.I liked how weird this case is, how they slowly had to unravel it to find out the motive for the killing. Did I see the ending coming? Partly to be honest. I was not totally surprised by the twist towards the end when we learn just how everything is connected. Sometimes, the answer is in front of your eyes all the time and I have read so many thrillers that I felt it was quite obvious who the person behind it all was. That doesn't mean that I did not enjoy reading the book, but some twist were just a bit too obvious... And now that I’ve read the latest book of this series and all the previous series as well, I can’t wait until I read the next David Baldacci book that comes out towards the end of this year: Long Road to Mercy, which is the first in a new thriller series featuring Atlee Pine, an FBI with his own demons to deal with. This is the fourth book in the Memory Man series and while not my favorite it was entertaining and timely.

He is visiting his FBI partner Alex Jamison's sister and her family in Baronville. A town that has a history of its own. The citizens detest the Baron family that established major industries and rendered employment to the needy. Once they were a bunch of respectful people and deteriorated gradually, with no money in hand. And it definitely is going to be a roller coaster ride for these two.He grabbed the top of the fence separating the two properties, neatly swung over the barrier and dropped inside the other yard. He moved swiftly down the darkened hallway, bouncing off one wall and then its parallel. Something fell to the floor as he brushed against it. It was inside the other house, behind one of the windows. He didn’t know if it was reflecting off the glass or what. She sighed. “A lot. None of them are as cool as Aunt Alex.” She brightened. “She came to visit because my birthday is almost here. I’m turning nine.”
