About this deal

It shoots 4K at 24, 25, and 30 fps. At 30 fps, it applies a 1.2x crop. It’s also capable of shooting Full HD at 120 fps. All of these are at 8-bit, 4:2:0, which doesn’t promise a lot for excessive grading. The maximum bitrate is 100 Mbps at all settings. And autofocus in video mode is great. External app is better in two respects: a) would not further clutter already busy camera menu, b) would be simply more convenient: my phone has 7.2" inch screen with multi-touch support, polished UI primitives etc.; we won't have comparable capabilities in cameras for decades, if ever.

Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy. On a more positive note, the chunky handgrip is much the best I’ve used on any small rangefinder-style mirrorless body, at least when used with relatively lightweight lenses. However, the camera’s low profile means that it’s very shallow, with only enough space for your second and third fingers to wrap around. As a result, it’s not especially comfortable to hold with larger and heavier lenses, which is unfortunate for a camera whose autofocus capabilities should make it an ideal vehicle for fast primes and telephotos. I can’t help but feel that Sony really needs to develop a larger, SLR-shaped APS-C body with a proper, full-height grip, which would be much better suited for this kind of work. The truth The dynamic range of this sensor is fantastic. When this camera was first released, it may have have had the best dynamic range you could find on the market at the time. According to my not-so-scientific testing, I would put it around 13 stops. Another sunset shot to show the depth of colour the A6400 can capture. Using the dedicated 'Sunset' mode was less successful, though, and messed up the colours rather than enhancing them. For bloggers, vloggers and independent content creators, the Sony A6400 is very good. Its still image quality is first rate, its 4K video is even better, and its 180-degree screen and eye-detect AF are handy for single-handed video capture. Even so, its high-tech image capture is poor consolation for its five-year-old design and limited external controls. Its ISO performance is also among the best. It provides very clean images up to ISO 1600. Between 1600 and 12,800, we see subtle increases in noise levels. Around ISO 25,600, noise becomes too harsh for the images to be useable for most purposes. And while its autofocus is exceptionally advanced and it has a good continuous shooting speed with a reasonable buffer capacity, the A6400 is just the wrong shape for shooting sports, wildlife and other action subjects with big lenses. Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements andoptically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect theimagery. While both cameras share similar features such as an anti-dust shutter mechanism, wireless and Bluetooth connection, image stabilisation, and support for RAW images. They also boast similar weather sealing and support for UHS-II cards. Should You Upgrade To The Sony A6700?

A tiny flash unit pops up from the top plate, and there’s also a hot shoe for working with more powerful and sophisticated external units. The Sony A6700 and A6400 both feature high-resolution LCD screens, which can provide a clear and detailed view of the scene. The Sony A6400 offers 4K UHD video recording up to 30p, with full pixel readout and no pixel binning. When we came to find rival cameras for the A6400 we realised it doesn’t have many direct competitors – in fact its combination of 24-megapixel APS-C sensor, built-in viewfinder, 4K video and 180-degree screen are pretty unique.
