About this deal

To better understand how memory contributes to dream smells, scientists have conducted numerous studies exploring the relationship between olfaction and dreaming. These studies have revealed intriguing findings regarding how specific areas of the brain responsible for processing smell—such as the olfactory bulb—are active during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, the stage of sleep most closely associated with dreaming. Psychology of Smell in Dream Experiences Memory plays a crucial role in dream smells, as scents from our past experiences can be recalled and incorporated into our dream narratives. The psychology of smell in dream experiences suggests that certain odors may trigger emotional responses or symbolize specific memories or situations.

in here, though - it's good patchouli - nothing cheap - but it is, not that super clean patchouli you might find in many designer releases, & certainly not the hyper clean, modern version, that you find used so superbly, in say, Chanel Exclusifs Les Eaux Deauville - as worn by BP Jennie or any of those modern eaux - this is slightly dirty, dusty patch a la Ibizan street market, but turned designer perfume - & is meant to be so. If you were a teen / twenty something in the 90's - you may well hv worn the oils, from said street markets as Mme Tilbury did - tbh, I think her "oil version" would probably smell better, though that's still not my thing - like J Lo's Glow is a plastic & scratchy copy of the China Rain oil which smelled so beautiful, soft & rounded on my aunt, (such a brilliant, cosmopolitan, wonderful lady, who reminds of Joanne Lumley, & has much of her style, ie "v Jean Muir(!)" - this one, with its ambroxan base, & dusty/scratchy vibe - doesng quite come off as rounded & nuanced - it loses something without the oil-type formula it is based on - like a greyer facsimile/photocopy of what it is, it doesn't quite hv the charm of what the original version was - & the attempt (not quite successful) to make it dewy, has a kind of push/pull effect - not in a good way, as you would hope. AQUA/WATER/EAU, HOMOSALATE, GLYCERYL STEARATE SE, ETHYLHEXYL SALICYLATE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, GLYCERIN, BUTYL METHOXYDIBENZOYLMETHANE, OCTOCRYLENE, CETYL ALCOHOL, C12-15 ALKYL BENZOATE, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, DIMETHICONE, PHENOXYETHANOL, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA BUTTER), STEARETH-21, AVENA SATIVA (OAT) KERNEL EXTRACT, CARBOMER, DIMETHICONOL, POTASSIUM CETYL PHOSPHATE, CHLORPHENESIN, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, XANTHAN GUM, HYDROLYZED VIOLA TRICOLOR EXTRACT, ALLANTOIN, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE, DISODIUM EDTA, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, CAMELLIA OLEIFERA SEED OIL, ROSA CANINA FRUIT OIL, ROSA DAMASCENA EXTRACT, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL, MICHELIA ALBA LEAF OIL, SODIUM LACTATE, COCO-GLUCOSIDE, PEG-8, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, SODIUM HYALURONATE, TOCOPHEROL, PALMITOYL TETRAPEPTIDE-7, PALMITOYL TRIPEPTIDE-1, ASCORBYL PALMITATE, PLUMERIA RUBRA FLOWER EXTRACT, ASCORBIC ACID, CITRIC ACID, NICOTIANA SYLVESTRIS LEAF CELL CULTURE, LINALOOL, CITRONELLOL, GERANIOL.

Exploring the intriguing connection between fragrances and dreams offers valuable insights into the mysteries of our subconscious mind. From the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee to the lingering sensation of a loved one’s perfume, these olfactory experiences during slumber can be both perplexing and bursty in nature. Researchers have delved into this fascinating realm, studying how smells in dreams interweave with other sensory elements like sound or touch. Whether it’s the scent of a bed or a breath, our dreams are filled with a symphony of fragrances that contribute to the overall sensory experience. To make Scent of a Dream a reality, Charlotte worked with François Robert, 4th-generation nose and the president of the Technical Commission of the French Society of Perfumers. He’s the genius behind iconic perfumes from the likes of Hermès, Lanvin, Missoni, and Les Parfums de Rosine. Memories stored within the brain play a crucial role in shaping our dreams, including the presence of smells. When we dream, our minds have the remarkable ability to revisit past experiences through sensory recall, and this includes memories associated with different scents. The connection between memory and smell is deeply intertwined, leading to vivid olfactory experiences within our dreams. Interestingly, some individuals report heightened sensitivity to odors while dreaming. This intensified olfactory perception may be attributed to the brain’s altered state during sleep. As we sleep, our brain processes information differently than when we are awake. It focuses on internal stimuli rather than external ones, allowing for unique sensory experiences.

When I opened the box initially I could smell the trail which is pleasant but nothing special. I imagine if you wore this out some people would compliment the scent trail but if you were cuddled up with somebody they would find the skin scent stale and strange. Mianhae, if you love this, but I honestly don't think it's a good one - kudos to Charlotte Tilbury, for trying something different - bc surely somebody must, am so fed up of all that candy floss-esque twaddle - although as said, I mostly do love some sophisticated gournandes - but this, - even for myself, with my love of Chanel Cristalle edt, Chanel's Eaux, Deauville, etc - & my huge love of various other bohemian greens, its nothing like them, & a must be a "non.."🙏💜 I have been mixing my own secret scent for years,” says Charlotte of the fragrance. “I have been fascinated by the idea that one’s perfume can attract others and also change the energy frequency of the people and environment around you.”Re this perfume, though - maybe if you like tuberose & peppery patch, you will like this - the dusty/fusty aspect is a real thing though. Rest assured, it's not amber - nothing like. It has a soapy quality, in the far dry down - not on me, bc I scrubbed it - which is something I rarely do, but I only managed to withstand 1 hour - but, on others, it does, in the far, drydown. Important to say that, whilst I cannot wear it myself, my skin amplifies peach, (as said, this has certainly has, peach, ouf,) - but Chloe edp, I think, is lovely on others, & I hv never thought that, was "old fashioned,' & certainly not "dusty" - but that yes, has a soapy quality, but it is also fresh, & almost energising - & is still a huge crowd pleaser - ppl mostly love that one - but this is nothing like a similar category to Chloe edp. External factors such as environmental odors or physical sensations can potentially influence the presence or nature of smells in dreams. However, further research is needed to understand the extent of this influence. Is there any practical use for analyzing smell in dream interpretation? Kate Moss is photographed by Sølve Sundsbø in the print campaign, and shot by Baillie Walsh in the video commercial. The fragrance is available as a 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum. Charlotte and I have always had this instant, naughty chemistry - we danced side by side together during the shoot," Moss said. "Charlotte has this electric passion and energy for life - she's a bit magical. It felt totally natural to do her first fragrance campaign together."

Scent of a Dream does more than just smell great—it enhances your mood, too. According to Charlotte, the perfume’s mind-altering power comes from its ability to tap into the body’s energy centers, attracting “love, light, power, positivity, and sex” to the wearer. This concept, Charlotte explains, is based on the idea that the part of the brain responsible for our sense of smell is directly linked to the limbic system, the network of nerves that controls our emotions and instincts. It’s important to note that not everyone experiences smelling sensations in their dreams. Some individuals may have more vivid olfactory dreams than others due to variations in brain chemistry or personal sensitivity to smells. Olfactory Perception in DreamingAs you inhale deeply, you can vividly smell the fragrant roses and freshly cut grass in your dream reports. I have grown to really like this now - on me it is a very distinctive fragrance that is sharp yet comforting. I really like its unpredictability and complexity. It is the most quixotic perfume I've encountered.
