My crush on Matthew Gray Gubler is no secret whatsoever. I adored Rumple Buttercup and I love Matthew’s style and his artwork. When he announced this book, I was so excited for him so of course I wanted to read it and I really enjoyed it. Gubler was born on March 9, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nevada. His father, John Gubler, is an attorney, and his mother, Marilyn Kelch Gubler, is a rancher, political consultant, and former chair of the Nevada Republican Party. Gubler attended the Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Performing and Visual Arts and majored in drama. However, he says that he had no intention of becoming an actor — he merely thought that theater class was fun and that acting might help him develop public speaking skills that would be useful in another career. "My friends and I joked that our major at the academy was Acting Not As an Occupation 101," he remembered. "I thought it would help me become a lawyer or something, help me speak in public. That's how I looked at that school." In 2014, Gubler acted in the zombie comedy Life After Beth and the film Suburban Gothic, for which he received the Screamfest Award for Best Actor. [14]

Let’s face it; we’re all weird in our own way. Anyone who has ever felt like they don’t belong, aren’t good enough or are too different to be accepted by others will relate to Rumple and hopefully realise, as Rumple does, that “ Everyone is weird and that’s what makes us great”.I loved wonderfully weird Rumple Buttercup when I met him four years ago and have been patiently (sometimes) waiting for Matthew Gray Gubler to introduce me to a new friend whose life began in his imagination. Speaking of Matthew's own approach to life and art, he's particularly vocal about how hands-on he is with the publishing process, even when the story is done.

Gubler is at home in this new nook of his artistic world, even as he questions the label. “I take it as a great compliment that people think of me as a children’s book writer,” he says. “But I’ve never really thought of my books as kids’ books; they’re less ‘books for young readers’ and more ‘books for young hearts.’” This is especially true, he says, for Little Kid. “Kids already know the message. It’s the adults who may have forgotten it. So this one’s for kids to read to their parents.” While studying film at NYU, Gubler was discovered by a model scout and then worked as a model with DNA Model Management for Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs, and American Eagle, [5] among others. He has been ranked 46th on models.com's list of top 50 male models. Gubler did, and landed the role of Nico (a.k.a. Intern #1). This led, in 2005, to Gubler being cast in Criminal Minds.
