About this deal

Judge Anderson. For years, Dredd had a close but uneasy friendship with Cassandra Anderson of Psi-Division, which came to an end when Anderson briefly abandoned the law. After she returned to duty, Dredd initially denied their friendship, but re-affirmed it after she was injured while saving the city. Dredd has great respect for Anderson's abilities and trusts her often with his life, but sometimes finds her flippant attitude and playful jokes annoying. [66] For those who like their classical philosophy texts, Dredd's world has a distinct air of Plato's The Republic about it. Smith, Matthew; Carroll, Michael; Ewing, Al (28 October 2014). Judge Dredd Year One: Omnibus. Abaddon. ISBN 978-1781082744. Mechanismo trilogy ( Megazine 2.12–17, 2.22–26 and 2.37–43). After "Necropolis" and "Judgment Day", Mega-City has lost far too many judges. To combat this, the Chief Judge test-runs 10 robotic "Mechanismo" Judges, with disastrous results. Judge Dredd Takes On Mega-City Two Tuesday". IDW. 10 December 2013. Archived from the original on 6 August 2014.

Burbidge, Greg. "Osprey Games announces Judge Dredd: The Cursed Earth | Dice Tower News". www.dicetowernews.com . Retrieved 10 September 2018. He is a bloodthirsty and power-hungry maniac who was one of the men who started an war which caused the deaths of over 900 million people and caused half of Mega-City One and his home city East-Meg One to be destroyed. He's shown to treat his men under his command horribly, sending men who fail him to Siberia without winter clothing for failing him, makes his second in command play a daily game of Russian Roulette for letting Dredd escape and executes an general for merely suggesting surrender. After the destruction of East-Meg One, he was merely angry that his city was destroyed. He also feels no remorse for his crimes, stating before his execution, "I regret nothing, I apologies for nothing!". AD Online – Judge Dredd: Year One City Fathers". 2000 AD Online. Archived from the original on 1 January 2016. Dredd's entire face is never shown in the strip. This began as an unofficial guideline, but soon became a rule. [31] As John Wagner explained: "It sums up the facelessness of justice − justice has no soul. So it isn't necessary for readers to see Dredd's face, and I don't want you to". [32] The total annihilation device is a nuclear warhead of massive power, capable of obliterating an entire mega-city in a single cataclysmic explosion. Six mega-cities have been destroyed in this way in the Judge Dredd strip: East-Meg One in the Apocalypse War, and five others in " Judgement Day". The Apocalypse War served as a graphic illustration of their power, not only with the destruction of East Meg One but with twenty five TADs launched by MC-1 in the early hours of the war, diverted to another reality by the Sov "Apocalypse Warp" (a shield which deflected the weapons from MC-1). They not only destroyed the entire planet in the other dimension, but caused a rift in reality that destroyed two adjacent dimensions (this would be revealed nineteen years later in "Helter Skelter").Kraken's fate during the storyline is incredibly horrific. After the Sisters use him to open a bridge to Deadworld, he's reduced to a puppet of Death, slaughtering citizens in the name of the Dark Judges — all while being just aware enough to know what he's doing and feel the torment of each victim. Of the other six host-mothers who were delivered by Caesarean, three died, two went irretrievably insane, and the last — Soon's mother, a Serial Killer named Doris "Driller Killer" Davison — lasted long enough to curse the project manager for unleashing a monster on the world before she committed suicide by swallowing her tongue. A game loosely based on the first live action film, called Judge Dredd was developed by Probe Software and released by Acclaim for the Genesis, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, and Game Gear. [120] Bally produced a Judge Dredd pinball machine based on the comics. [121] In 1997, Acclaim released a Judge Dredd arcade game, a rail shooter with 3D graphics and full motion video footage shot specifically for the game. The Cursed Earth (progs 61–85). Dredd, accompanied by punk biker Spikes Harvey Rotten (and later the alien Tweak), leads a small group of Judges on an epic journey across the Cursed Earth, transporting vaccine for the deadly 2T-FRU-T virus that is devastating Mega-City Two. This multi-part epic is often referred to as 'the first Dredd epic' and was inspired by Roger Zelazny's Damnation Alley. Lawgiver: The lawgiver machine pistol is the standard sidearm used by judges. It fires six different kinds of bullets, and is programmed to explode when used by an unauthorised user.

Over the decades, Joe Dredd becomes a major force protecting Mega-City One and is sometimes the biggest catalyst in preventing its destruction. Offered the opportunity to become Chief Judge in 2101, Dredd declines, preferring to serve on the streets enforcing the law, though he does temporarily serve in other senior positions. [55] In "Tour of Duty", Dredd is appointed to the Council of Five, Mega-City One's highest governing body below the Chief Judge, [56] on which he serves for two years (2132 to 2134). [57] On several occasions, he saves his city from conquest or destruction by powerful enemies, and in 2114, he saves the entire world during the Fourth World War. [58]

Cadet Jessica Paris. A recent addition to the family – a clone of Joe Dredd grown without SRY, making her a woman as a result. Has only made a single appearance in the comic to date in which she was shown as being heavily pregnant and the decision on what to do with her and the child being left ambiguous. [77] The Daily Dredds Volume 1". 2000AD.wordpress.com. 11 January 2015. Archived from the original on 18 April 2015 . Retrieved 8 April 2015. In Japan, manga comic Shōnen Jump Autumn Special (1995) included a one-off story featuring a unique version of Judge Dredd which was entirely different to both the comic character and the movie character. Set in Tokyo in 2099, Dredd Takeru is a part-time street judge whose day job is working as a primary school teacher. The Cursed Earth, which was the first introduction of the cloned dinosaurs, also had the debut of Satanus, a massive T-Rex created shortly before the Apocalypse War, who became infamous for all the humans he killed even in captivity. He survived the nuclear holocaust and would become one of the most feared predators to roam the Cursed Earth, which is saying something, and facing him was so horrific that he's one of the characters Dredd has a nightmare about right before the end of the story. What's worse is that the comic heavily implies that It Can Think, and that Satanus is not only partially sentient, but even remembers his original pre-clone life in distant prehistory (which reveals that he was the son of Old One-Eye, the main antagonist from the earlier 2000 AD series Flesh). [27] While not related to the dangers of the journey itself, there's the mutant daughter of one of the settler families; they left Mega-City One so they wouldn't have to abandon her, but her mutation is very severe, as she no longer looks even close to human, instead resembling a mix of a crab and a snail that needs to be kept in a tank of water. She's still an infant too, and the veteran guide leading the settlers even wonders exactly what she's going to grow into. We never find out either way, even though her family are among the few survivors, as she scuttles off into a stream shortly after arriving in the territories, and is never seen again. The Statue of Justice and the Public Surveillance Unit are both destroyed during Chaos Day by terrorists, with most of the teenage or younger Judge cadets being mercilessly gunned down on-screen. Aside from the apocalyptic visuals of the Statue coming down, this prompts the citizens of the city to erupt into an orgy of violence and looting even without the Bug driving their actions. The fate of the three Cadet Judges who fall into Soon's hands; he shapes their living bodies into a single twisted altar of flesh and bone without letting them die, despite the incredible damage done to them. For his own amusement, he permits the altar a brief opportunity to scream... and scream it does. Reliance Entertainment produced Dredd, which was released in September 2012. It was positively received by critics with Rotten Tomatoes' rating of 80%. [99] It was directed by Pete Travis and written by Alex Garland. Michael S. Murphey was co-producer with Travis. [100] Karl Urban was cast as Judge Dredd and Olivia Thirlby portrayed Judge Anderson. [101] [102] Dredd's costume was radically redesigned for the film, adding armor plates and reducing the size and prominence of the shoulder insignia.

The lawmaster is a motorbike used by street judges. It has artificial intelligence, twin machine guns ("bike cannon"), a laser, and can fire stun gas grenades. It also has a turbo-boost function which enables it to jump over long distances or to great heights. It can respond to verbal commands and drive itself. It superseded the obsolete lawranger in the 21st century. The Lawgiver is a fictional weapon used by the Judges including Judge Dredd. The Lawgiver is a self-loading handgun featuring manual and automatic focusing and targeting, plus a built-in computer capable of controlling its operation. An in-line gunsight shows the view directly down the barrel. A Lawgiver can only be operated by its designated Judge owner, whose palm print is programmed into the gun's memory. Any attempt by a non-designated user to fire a Lawgiver causes the weapon to self-destruct (a feature introduced by writer Malcolm Shaw). [41]
