About this deal

With ISOFIX, the risk of installing a car seat incorrectly is smaller, compared to using your car’s seat belt. At Maxi-Cosi we offer an ISOFIX solution in each age category; baby, toddler and child.

They sound very similar, but ISOFIX and ISOFIT are subtly different. The latter is a type of car seat that still uses the car’s ISOFIX points, but the child uses the car’s seatbelt rather than being strapped into a harness. ISOFIX seats are for ages 0-4, while ISOFIT seats are designed for ages 4-12. Does my car have ISOFIX? A: ECE R44/04 is the older car seat testing regulation for Europe, and ECE R129 is the newer standard that was ratified in July 2013. ECE R129 and ECE R44/04 have been running in tandem for the last 9 years, but as of September 1, 2023, ECE R129 will become the only standard under which car seat manufacturers may certify car seats for sale in Europe. One year later, on September 1, 2024, brands and retailers in the UK and EU will be required to cease the sale of any car seat certified under the ECE R44/04 standard. This guide is to help parents understand the technicalities of ISOFIX, and to explain – very simply - the design elements of the system. What is ISOFIX?

Yes. Mostly all vehicles have ISOFIX anchorage points in the rear of the vehicle, as it is the safest place to have a child restraint installed. Child restraint manufacturers provide information as to whether their seats are compatible with vehicles via a manual referred to as a Car Fitting List. It is mandatory that manufacturers provide this with all their ISOFIX seats sold, so as to allow you to predetermine whether your vehicle can accommodate an ISOFIX seat. When it comes to child safety in passenger cars, there is much talk around ISOFIX, a system for installing child car seats safely and correctly. Is something of this sort compatible with Figo / Aspire? Moreover, how is it fixed on the seat frame, just by 2 bolts? I'm going to explore these mounts. Only problem is that i'll have to buy three (one for each car) and have to change the child seat as well! Isofit connectors are more like large hooks on the end of flexible arms or sometimes straps (rather than the rigid arms of Isofix connectors). Once you’ve ascertained the right child seat for your kid, fitting it to your car’s ISOFIX points is pretty simple. Firstly, locate the ISOFIX points in your car. This can be done by going through the owner’s manual or looking for the ISOFIX label on the rear seats.

Modern two-seat cars like the Mazda MX-5 now feature ISOFIX points on the passenger seat, while an increasing number of cars offer three or more seats of ISOFIX points. The Volkswagen Touran has five, while the Audi Q7 offers up to six sets of ISOFIX points. i -Size does NOT replace the current legislation, however. Learn more about car seat legislation and find out how we, as Maxi-Cosi, stay up to date with the latest car seat laws.See: ISOFIX vs. car seat belts http://www.maxi-cosi.com/car-seats/car-seat-safety/choosing-a-child-car-seat/isofix-versus-car-seat-belts.aspx Once the child is of a certain age, can ISOFIX be uninstalled? Is this necessary? Alternatively, look for the ISOFIX identifier on the rear seats. Normally, these are the two outboard positions on the rear seat. They may also be found in the front seat of some vehicles.
