About this deal

Adlard’s art is just as killer as the scripting in this debut issue, delivering a perfect balance between gritty crime elements and cosmic horror. The style calls to mind the original run of Alias from Michael Gaydos, which gave a more realistic look to a superhero universe. Instead of the superheroics, the linework gives a grounded look into the world of mages and the occult. Adland’s harsh linework combined with Dodgson’s colors gives the series a gothic quality that reflects the harshness of the book’s setting and provides a powerful contrast to their depictions of demons. Witchfinder: The Mysteries of Unland (5-issue miniseries, written by Kim Newman and Maura McHugh, June–October 2014) Daemon Worlds, as the name indicates, are planets where Chaos has won and the Warp and reality start coexisting in the same place, something that isn't good for sanity. Collects Sledgehammer 44 #1-2 and Lightning War #1-3. Takes place 10 years after Lobster Johnson: The Iron Prometheus. It’s recommended to read it before B.P.R.D.: Hell on Earth: Metamorphosis. Also collected in Hellboy Universe: The Secret Histories. Hellboy: The Fire Wolves– A novel by Tim Lebbon. Hellboy is called to Amalfi, Italy, by Franca, a young member of the Esposito family as she fears that a dark curse on her family is about to claim her cousin as its next victim. Hellboy encounters a flaming demon-a fire wolf.

Collects B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: The Devil’s Engine #1-3 and B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: The Long Death #1-3. Damn Them All #1 – written by Simon Spurrier, with art from Charlie Adlard, colors by Sofie Dodgson, color assistance by Shayne Hannah Cui, and lettering from Jim Campbell – is a series that captures the balance of a well-established and interesting magical system. The issue focuses on Ellie “Bloody El” Hawthorne burying her uncle, one of England’s top occultists for hire. Rumblings of a change in the demonic hierarchy and rules of magical summons have changed in the wake of this wake. This occurs along with shifts and bolder moves in the criminal underworld, with those demonic entities being used as powerful weapons. Running in parallel to El’s investigation into these demonic entities is a mysterious cop from New Orleans looking for El and her uncle, with some unseen connection to this situation. See Hell Invades Heaven for the one thing worse than this. Not to be confused with Mordor, which is usually just metaphorically Hell on Earth, or Physical Hell, where Hell is literally located on Earth.

B.P.R.D.: Hell on Earth—Monsters (2-issue arc, written by John Arcudi and Mike Mignola, July–August 2011) Collects B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: Nowhere, Nothing, Never #1-3 and B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: Modern Prometheus #1-2. In Magic: The Gathering we have the Phyrexian invasion. After a certain point, the invasion continued by way of physically overlaying another plane, filled with millions of demonic soldiers, onto Dominaria. Fortunately, Urza had been running The Plan across thousands of years to prepare but it very nearly wasn't enough. The Phyrexians would later go on to infect the plane of Mirrodin, with much better results if you're a Phyrexian. Tyler Crook is an American comics artist. He broke into comics in 2011 with Petrograd, written by Philip Gelatt and published by Oni Press, and in 2012 he won the Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award. He is best known for his work on Mike Mignola and John Arcudi's B.P.R.D.: Hell on Earth, Harrow County, which he co-created with Cullen Bunn, and his solo comic book series The Lonesome Hunters. Collects The Chained Coffin, The Right Hand of Doom, The Bride of Hell, The Crooked Man, The Troll Witch, and The Midnight Circus.

In Avengers vs. X-Men, Magik brings a portion of Limbo to Earth and uses it as a prison for the captured Avengers. Archie Horror’s narrative expansion continues through the rest of this year and the next with more stories exploring the dark corners of its shared universe. Rotante added, “This one-shot is filled with twists and turns both heart-wrenching and horrifying. But trust us, this isn’t the end of Madam Satan’s story.” I know that licensing probably has something to do with it, but it seems a shame that Hell on Earth from Bloch, Fleming, Giffen, Theakston, Wray, and Saladino remains out of print like everything else from the Science Fiction Graphic Novel initiative. So too from its sister book of which I think Hunger Dogs remains the only work still available. It was an interesting experiment of a line adapting genre literary works and the results were by and large quite good. Cameron Stewart was the writer on the Ashley Strode stories, 2012's Exorcism and 2016's The Exorcist. And the end of Season 5 and After The Fall gave us the Hell-A demon playground, at least until it was undone.
