I’m always looking for recipes that feature apples because for three months of the year, I have more apples available to me than I could ever use thanks to my apple trees.

If you’re new to using an air fryer, there are a few things you need to know before you start cooking. First and foremost, you’ll need to choose the right size air fryer for your needs. If you’re cooking for a family, a larger model may be necessary, but if you’re cooking for one or two people, a smaller model may suffice. Then, bake at 425F for 40 minutes tossing once halfway through baking. After 40 minutes increase the heat to a broil.

Reserve 1/2 cup pasta cooking water then drain and set aside. The slight sweetness of the apple in the sausage pairs well with the creamy cheese sauce here and helps to cut through the richness. First, cube the meat before freezing it in a 1-gallon resealable plastic bag. Flatten the cubes into a single layer and they will freeze faster and come apart more readily when it’s time to add them to the processor.
