About this deal

Now she looked at Matthew and thought, He looks happy. Honestly, plainly happy. And if this trip to Paris might not be her salvation, she could at least make sure it was his. Ariadne’s mother murmured assent, but Ariadne was troubled. The Consul and her closest advisor didn’t visit in person because they were merely eager for news. Something had them worried; something they had not mentioned to Flora. He glanced at his father. Will was looking at him with a rare stern expression, his eyes very blue. He said, “James, you must tell us what is wrong.”

Had she been having a good time? Cordelia wondered. Perhaps she had. So far, she’d been mostly able to keep her mind off the ways she’d horrifically failed everyone she cared about. And that, after all, was the very purpose of the journey. Once you had lost everything, she reasoned, there was no reason not to embrace whatever small happinesses you could. Wasn’t that, after all, Matthew’s philosophy? Wasn’t that why she had come here with him? The current group of Merry Thieves ends by digging a grave so that they can bury Jesse’s coffin (and symbolically bury items that represent things they are letting go of). Below, I’m going to cover Chain of Thorns‘ ending if you’re dying to know more about this book but haven’t gotten your hands on a copy yet! A woman seated at a nearby café, wearing a hat laden with ostrich plumes and silk roses, glanced from Matthew to Cordelia and smiled—approving, Cordelia assumed, of young love. Months ago, Cordelia would have blushed; now she simply smiled. What did it matter if people thought the wrong things about her? Any girl would be happy to have Matthew as a suitor, so let passersby imagine whatever they wanted. That was how Matthew managed things, after all—not caring at all what others thought, simply being himself, and it was astonishing how it allowed him to move easily through the world. One funny thing is that no one except Thomas r Nothing.” There was a bitter taste in James’s mouth. “I fell asleep—another dream—I told you, I’m worried about Lucie.” It had been a gift from James. Cordelia knew she should take it off, but she was not ready yet. Somehow it seemed a gesture more final than the slashing through of her marriage rune. The casts were all beautifully written and developed. The Merry thieves were a unique assemble with Beautiful, Charming (and Sad)Matthew, Charismatic James, Pure and Energetic Christopher (Kit) and Tall Brooding Thomas.

Miss Carstairs has chosen perfectly for her coloring. When you step into a room, mademoiselle, you will appear as the flame of a candle, drawing eyes to you like moths.” In the moments of lucidity, she had pieced together only a few details. The room was small, painted the color of an eggshell; there was a single window through which she could see the ocean as its waves rolled in and out, a dark gunmetal gray tipped with white. She could hear the ocean too, she thought, but its distant roar often came mixed with much less pleasant noises, and she could not tell what of her perception was real. SEEING THE GRACETOPHER MOMENTS ohmygod they just gave me so much life - which is also another reason why I felt SO robbed when Cassie just kills off Christopher??? like what the hell you really pulled that??? an absolute menace I could kill something. Their scenes were what I was looking forward to most from COT and they served so well😭😭 Christopher was the most understanding and reasonable person of everyone in this book I swear. and Grace being able for the first time to be treated with so much kindness by Christopher? yall HE LITERALLY CHOSE TO VISIT HER IN THE SILENT CITY TO HAVE THEIR OWN XMAS PARTY WITH CHAMPAGNE THEN GO TO WILL'S CHRISTMAS PARTY BECAUSE HE DIDNT WANT HER TO BE ALONE??? IF THAT DOESNT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT HOW WHOLESOME THEIR RELATIONSHIP WAS THEN IDK WHAT IS. The first 50% of this book was so bad that I considered dnfing and giving it a one-star rating. I admit that it got better during the last 30%. That's the only reason it's getting two stars from me. It's likely that because of delays in the publication process due to COVID, the last TLH book and Sword Catcher will publish later than originally anticipated." Cassandra Clare on Tumblrso i get that christopher had to die. but did it have to happen in that unfeeling way? yes, there was an interlude signifying the “grieving” period of everyone but it wasn’t all that realistic. all of them seemed to be more torn up about losing james & matthew to belial tbh and no one except grace even seemed to feel much for him!! that was how i knew the characterizations were all wrong, with that part of the book. thomas was apparently christopher’s closest companion and yet grace felt more for christopher than he did — make it make sense. To her credit—or perhaps it was just that they were in France—Madame did not even blink. “Alors,” she said. “It is rare I get to dress such a natural and unusual beauty. Here, the fashion is all for blondes, blondes, but blondes cannot wear such a color. It is blood and fire, too intense for pallid skin and hair. They are suited by lace and pastel, but Miss…?”

Anna and Ariadne were just... there. I really do not have much of an opinion on either of them and truly could care less about their fates had they died. Anna is such a queen and Ari's arc was really nice but that's it. yall i was in an emotional state (as you can see) writing this review so excuse the messiness. also major spoilers below They all went through various character developments through the progress of the book. I loved that they weren’t one-dimensional and I what I loved the most was the bond and love they shared with one another. The Merry Thieves with Oscar – Matthew’s Dog

But I have never worn a Russian hat with fur earflaps,” said Will, “unlike some individuals currently present.” Grace and Jesse solve the issue with the fire messages and reach out to the Enclave to fight with them. Charles Fairchild — Matthew's older brother and Alastair's former lover with aspirations to become the next Consul, which he will not sacrifice. Part of it was older James on his deathbed, and as he lay dying seeing all of his friends who had died so horribly so long ago waiting for him on the other side, and thinking how he had never had friends again like the ones he had when he was young." Cassandra Clare on Tumblr Will/Tessa/Jem were the one and only exception. She did that well, but recycling it for this series was just not it.

Matthew was also able to tell James, and his parents, Henry and Charlotte Branwell about how he had accidentally poisoned Charlette with what he thought was a truth serum when he was a child, causing her to have a miscarriage. I SOBBED. Of everyone in this series, Alastair Carstairs remains my #1 favourite TLH character. The way he’s changed so much just thinking of it gets me emotional. He learned to accept himself and believe he’s deserving of love. For so long he’s hated himself and so for this journey of his self-hatred to turn into self-love.. I cannot deal with the emotions, Im beyond happy. HIM EASILY BEING ABLE TO EXPRESS HIS LOVE WITHOUT A CARE IN THE WORLD STOP MY HEART CANT HANDLE THIS. Thomastair was really the only ship Id say that was done justice out of everyone in this series. The half-burnt fire message was hilarious bye “Dear Alastair, Why are you so stupid I brush my teeth Don’t tell anyone, Thomas.” that will never not be funny. Alastair taking care of little Zachary Arash Carstairs sdkhgks it's adorable, Alastair now always smiling makes my heart melt🫠 Alastair’s character development might have been the best character delevopment. I like how he grew into himself and let go of a lot of things. I liked who he was at the end. It was very lovely to watch. (I was reviewing this and I realised I said watch rather than read. That’s because I see the stories in my head like I’m watching it 🙂 )

James, Cordelia and Matthew love triangle is just terrible. Any other pairing would have been better than theirs. Matthew and Cordelia have no chemistry at all. Like none. Tbf, Cordelia has no chemistry with James either but that's beside the point. James and Matthew have such good chemistry. Matthew could have liked James instead of Cordelia. Cassie originally planned on the first edition's short story being the story of the found family tree, with explanations as to why it is incorrect and what the true family tree is. [8] [9]
