About this deal

Now retired, Sally Arnold lives in Totnes, Devon and likes to ‘ draw and walk”, although she has not cut herself off from her old life. “ I still talk to Allen, who must be almost 80 now. We always talk about Jade. I adored her. I’m on the phone with Artimus Pyle of Lynyrd Skynyrd…Reminiscing about those we’ve lost“, says. I also loved that there are pictures interspersed throughout- I’m not normally a fan but in this context worked perfectly to highlight the hectic nature of her lifestyle. Kevin from Danbury, CtAnother immature comment, Freddie never wanted to have GUYS riding on bikes. If anything the nakded women were his idea. Dee from Indianapolis, InWhat a fun Queen song. These guys are one of a kind, and this song goes to show you the creative abilities they possesed. This is one of those sing along songs. The music industry fascinates me and I am beyond excited to acquire this for our branch and share my thoughts. I can’t wait to read Sally’s behind the scenes stories touring with some of the most popular acts of her time. Many more thoughts and insight to follow.

Moi-même from Paris, -I don't understand why so many people here think this song is sexist. Humorous, satirical, sarcastic, perhaps. Sexist? Hardly. Kevin from Bridgeport, CtAnd the song is anything but sexist. Its a very humorous song...and live Freddie would say its for all the beautiful women in the audience...and he finds all women beautiful. Chris from Port Hawkesbury, CanadaFreddie wrote Bicycle Race, from his point of view it would have been about GUYS on bikes, but the poster in the album was obviously going to be WOMEN on bikes. They knew that would cause enough controversy as it was, and controversy was what they were trying to 'manage', what with starting to be past their prime and all. It worked! A rather dull album that everyone bought just to get the poster. Bryan May wrote the more lyrically controversial 'Fat Bottomed Girls', I always thought it was kind of comical, and not to be taken seriously. On musical terms, both songs are acceptable, I guess, but the rest of the album is much below what Queen were capable of. Arnold lived and worked in a man’s world, but “ I liked it“, he admits, “ and actually, one thing i miss is those big hugs. On tour we were a very close family».This memoir describes a life very well lived, and one that had so much purpose. The various charities and her gratitude for growing up in such a privileged way was humbling. However, she also found joy in her role, describing the band as a "close-knit family on tour" and remembering the "bear hugs" she received from the group.

The spontaneous jet-set lifestyle soon morphed into an unpredictable, chaotic one. Meanwhile, five-month-old Jade was becoming more attached to Sally – “I was with her 24 hours a day, feeding, cuddling, bathing, it’s only natural.” Sally worked her last day on March 2 1972, although it wasn’t the last she saw of the couple. One thing is for sure and that is that Sally Arnold has lived a wonderful and stupendous life, one that most of us can only dream of, and through all of this, she appears to have remained humble, and comes across as a very grounded and down-to-earth person. But, she admits, there was one time when she did slip up. “It was on the Stones tour. I’d only ever seen heroin as yellowy, brown sugar, but this was white. I was so ill. But Woody [Ronnie Wood] and Keith [Richards] looked after me for hours and hours,” she says. “I would never have taken it by choice, because I saw what it did to them. It was all too easy. The same went for sleeping with the group. I didn’t want to be a cliché, and fortunately, it saved my sanity.” We lived in Bel Air mansions, stayed in the best hotels, flew private jets, and received extravagant gifts from the bands," she writes. "It was certainly a life that was envied by many."Bridget from CoDon't know why, but once toward the end of history class our teacher was talking, and with a part of a reaction video where one girl commented on this song in mind, I commented, "Queen's Jazz album!" He agreed. Still don't know why I said that. She had spent her childhood out of the limelight on a farm in Wiltshire: “ I was always a tomboy and I guess bossy as the eldestshe says to the Telegraph, also revealing that it was very difficult for her to resist the lure of the big city. At 16, before Norland, she had gone to London to work in the dressing room of the legendary Marquee Club in Soho, where she saw the best bands live: “ Jimi Hendrix of Pink Floyd and Eric Clapton“, says. Kevin from Bridgeport, CtThat was an immature comment. Freddie Mercury was bisexual. I heard that Brian wrote the song after meeting a few groupies he had fun with...don't know if its true though.
