About this deal

Lomography is an avant-garde approach to photography that uses quirky camera gear to achieve a lo-fi aesthetic. With one press of the shutter button, you’ll be taking four sequential pictures on a single frame. This allows you to uniquely capture action and movement without having to advance your film. If you’re after a wide angle instant, the Automat Glass is really your only option and it’s one we like a lot.

The Baby Diana 110 recreates this nostalgic toy camera feel, but with modern construction that’s less hit and miss than buying a vintage spy cam. 3. Holga 120N Medium Format Film Camera The Instax wide format prints the Wide spits out can deliver an impressive amount of detail, with a distinctive colour palette. Blues and green hues have plenty of pop, while other shades deliver a pastel-like, washed out vibe. It’s how instant format prints have looked for years, and Lomography keeps the same look here.In a sense, lomography has always been around. There have always been photographers exploring odd equipment and pushing artistic bounds. Other instant cameras use Zink paper, which uses heat to activate colors in the paper. The advantage to Zink is that you don’t have to worry about accidentally exposing the paper to light, as you do with Instax film. However, we’ve found that Zink prints tended to be less vibrant overall. Overall, the Lomo'Instant Automat Glass is a fun and quirky addition to Lomo’s range, with the highest quality from Lomo’s instant range we’ve seen to date.

Unlike most entry-level digital cameras which are pretty easy to get started with, it will probably benefit you if you spend some time getting to know the Lomo Instant before taking your first shot. That means a completely plastic construction, which only just manages to avoid feeling cheap. It might not sound like it, but the glittery finish of our Victoria Peak review sample actually adds a touch of class. Fujifilm makes a camera that takes the same film but Lomography’s offering [the Lomo’Instant Wide] is a much more serious piece of photographic equipment. The viewfinder has two distinct levels of brightness. Ignore the darker vignette area—it's not going to show up in your image. The bright square is your frame, but you have to remember that framing is not going to be precise. The viewfinder is offset from the lens, and that difference means the framing is going to vary a bit, especially when focusing close. Also on the front of the Lomo'Instant Automat is the shutter release button, which when holding your camera with your right hand just about falls under your middle finger. The button is reflective silver, so you can use it as a “selfie mirror” to help you compose self-portraits. The camera’s flash unit is housed on the front of the camera, as well as light sensors. You can change exposure compensation using a scrolling dial on top of the Lomo Instant. You can choose to leave it on automatic or add in up to +2 or -2 compensation. The shutter release is found on the top part of the front of the Lomo Instant too. The diminutive 1.8- x 2.4-inch Instax Mini prints (costing about 75 cents each) generally achieve a good balance in both color saturation and brightness, and the fill-flash lit faces in outdoor shots pretty well. Colors were just a tad muted compared to some Kodak camera images using its Zink printing tech. Unlike all-analog models (such as the instax mini), the Evo captures digital images that you can preview on the generous 3-inch and slightly tweak — orientation, brightness, and color vividness (with a dreamy "natural" option) — before committing to a print. Fujifilm's mobile app doesn't allow much control of settings, but can send smartphone images to the camera's printer. (Going the other way, you can transfer the Evo's digital images to a computer using the camera's microSD card slot.)
