About this deal

These gloves are very light in weight and offer great warmth while riding on cold nights and mornings. The gloves are sealed very well with neoprene cuffs and Velcro straps to keep the wind and water outside. Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) is Canada’s leading supplier of quality outdoor gear and clothing. The company sells a complete line of outdoor gear and apparel, including a large selection of gloves. They even have cycling gloves for summer and winter! Designed for all weather riding: the Neoprene cuff and loop closure provide a clean connection to your wrist to prevent wind, rain, and snow from sliding underneath your gloves or up your sleeves. Keep your hands dry and warm in all conditions.

Denier Cordura provides a strong, abrasion resistant material, which is also coated with wind/water proof membrane. Wind and Waterproof fabric are designed with a perforated internal membrane that keeps the elements on the edge. Windproof fabrics are designed according to the volume of air passing through 1spm of the fabric. At a certain point it becomes too cold to effectively warm up. You can't generate enough body heat either because you are riding slower, because your body has trouble keeping extremities warm, or just because it's too cold. When that happens, it's time to turn to a heated glove; the question is which one? The inside of the gloves is a Primaloft Gold Active+ material that's reassuringly fluffy to slip your hand into before heading out into the elements. Using a lobster design and bunching fingers together so they can cosy up for warmth is a common winter glove tactic, but while the outer three fingers are grouped together in a fat claw, they each get to snuggle into their own little compartment within that broader part of the glove. The palm material wraps up to provide extra protection from abrasion right at the highest wear spot (Image credit: Josh Ross) PerformanceThe answer depends on the timeframe we are talking about. A good pair of gloves with a waterproof membrane, or even a DWR coating, will keep your hands dry for a while. Ride long enough though and they all saturate. The only option that is actually waterproof is a shell. Sportful makes a shell I included here but there are some others out there. They are truly waterproof but they also require another glove for warmth and that second glove will eventually get wet also. When you leave the house on a bitterly cold day, you might make it through a ride with only a single pair of gloves. If you leave the house and it's raining you will need a change of gloves if you ride longer than about three hours. How many winter gloves do you need?

The same goes for wind and waterproof riding. The gloves with waterproof quality membranes can work the best while you ride. The waterproof and windproof outershell is made from nylon, spandex, and a mico-porous membrane – equaling warmth, stretch and breathability – the inside is 100% polyester. These aren't bargain basement pricing but there's nothing warmer at this price level. Pearl Izumi doesn't cut corners to get there either. The lobster glove design pairs your first two fingers and your last two fingers for warmth at a much lower price. It's still easy enough to handle braking and shifting, and there's even touchscreen compatibility, but it does require a little bit more thinking about it at first..The unique 2-finger design further retains heat and makes it easy to use your brake and shift levers. Cold fingers aren’t just unpleasant, they impede your ability to brake, change gear, and they’re not great for your concentration, either. Grip has been taken into careful consideration, as you can see from the underside of the glove, with silicone sections on the fingers and palms. SealSkinz Extra Cold gloves – men’s and women’s
