About this deal

This standard Thatos Pattern Module isn’t quite as roomy as the extended variety, but it still provides all the light, ventilation, and legroom a hardy pioneer could wish for – plus a full suite of telemetry from the roof-top gewgaw. These were first available in the recent Necromunda: Ash Wastes set, and they’re fully compatible with the Sector Mechanicus terrain, so there’s scope to make some truly unique battlefields. Thatos Pattern Platform and Walkways As a final discouragement you can choose to attempt to blow him up when he is incapacitated, causing mortal wounds to nearby operatives. Keep in mind this also affects friendlies. Traitor Butcher Similar to the Thug the Trench Sweeper is a durable close range bully unit. Where the Thug reduces damage, the Trench Sweeper has the ability to re-roll any failed saves using the Shielding ability. When the Trench Sweeper is activated you can choose to activate this ability at no APL cost, but give up 2 inches in movement until its next activation. Additionally, the Trench Sweeper can use its Shield to parry two successful hit dice instead of one. Lastly, the Trench Sweeper has apparently been practicing at the range, because he sports a 2+ to hit with his shotgun. By himself the Trench Sweeper is easily one of the better specialists available to The Blooded, and as we will see in later sections, synergizes very well with other abilities available to the team. For the metallic parts of both the Traitor Guard and the Traitor Enforcer/Traitor Ogryn, apply Nuln Oil wash. To bring out the details in the skin of the Traitor Enforcer and Traitor Ogryn, use Guilliman Flesh wash. A situational ploy that allows operatives that do not have a Blooded Token to be treated as if they have one provided they’re within 6 inches of the opponent’s drop zone. Another ploy that emphasizes being up close and aggressive with your opponent, however it is unlikely to be useful until Turning Point 3 or later. It can however provide you some needed buffs in a pinch should you find yourself behind enemy lines. Dirty Fighters

These big lads still have odd keywords – their only faction keywords are CHAOS and NURGLE – but they can now be included in a Death Guard or NURGLE TRAITORIS ASTARTES detachment without taking up a battlefield role slot and without turning off any of your army-wide abilities. There are two datasheets here, and both are Elites choices. Gellerpox Infected The Blooded have a single common ability across all their operatives, creatively named BLOODED, that is simultaneously very useful and fits perfectly with their lore as a once loyal and disciplined fighting unit who have turned to pleasing their dark patrons. TheChirurgeon: The real value of these units is that you have another cheap ObSec option that sits between Cultists and Chaos Space Marines, with significantly more firepower and durability than the former. At 6/7 Leadership they’re also less likely to flee or kill you on Dread Tests and for 10 points more getting a unit that can actually ruin someone’s day with a meltagun and plasma gun is pretty solid. This gives Chaos Space Marines four solid Troops choices in their games, and that’s pretty cool.Chem-Breather [1 EP] – Identical in effect to the Wyrmblade Photo-Visors, makes operatives immune to Stun and negative APL modifiers. Elucia Vhane stands proud amongst these luminaries. The scion of a noble mercantile dynasty, she seeks to eclipse the rich history of her ancestors – or die trying. Meanwhile, the rules for the Blooded Kill Team reward aggressiveness — which is ironically not the case with all factions. Players will be able to field larger (compared to standard Imperial Guard) sets of units without making any concessions to durability. The faction also includes a new mechanic that rewards consistently killing the opposition with guaranteed hits and other goodies in later rounds. Once they get going, Blooded Kill Teams can be very hard to stop, making them more than a match for the Space Marines in this box. Once in each Strategy phase, when it is your turn to use a Strategic Ploy or pass, you can assign any or all of your Blooded tokens from your pool to friendly BLOODED operatives in the killzone. Each operative can have no more than one Blooded token.

To add depth and shading, it’s time for washes. Apply Agrax Earthshade over the armor and cloth of the Traitor Guard, focusing on the recessed areas. For the skin areas, use Carroburg Crimson.

Operatives

A Blooded Kill Team has a structure akin to a mix of the Veteran Guardsmen and Wyrmblade teams, consisting of: The first time a friendly operative is incapacitated in each Turning Point while within 6 inches of an enemy operative. A close combat specialist, this devotee of chaos has traded in his lasgun for power weapons, +1 atk, +3 to hit, and 1 wound over the standard trooper, a decent trade. In addition, he comes with two special abilities meant to encourage you to throw him into your opponent. Unholy Sustenance allows him to regenerate D3 wounds after he incapacitates an enemy in during a fight (so no grenade kills), and Blood Offering causes him to generate a blood token on the first critical hit used to strike in a combat. Take note this later ability has no Turning Point limit meaning he could potentially generate multiple tokens a Turning Point. Just as an example, he could charge into combat, kill an enemy operative generating 2 tokens in that combat, be charged by an enemy operative and subsequently die to generate another 2. This guy is barely more durable than a regular guardsman, so you shouldn’t expect him to last long once he starts mixing with your opponent. Traitor Commsman

On the whole, the current Kill Team meta is very healthy, with solid balance that leads to 13-15 out of 21 factions currently showing competitive strength. The Tier List Each Operative aside from TRAITOR TROOPERS may only be taken once, and only 2 GUNNERS may be taken. Ever wonder how a Chaos Knight would do on Necromunda? We have. The answer is “definitely too well to make it fun”. Anyway, there’s some nifty outdoor terrain coming for Necromunda – if nothing else, it gives your Outrider Quads somewhere to hide from those Knights… Thatos Pattern Extended Hab Module These are just generally cool rules to have, though I really wish GW would give us an Army of Renown or some kind of rules similar to the old 3rd edition Lost and the Damned Army from Eye of Terror, where a small number of Chaos Space Marines lead a bunch of cultists and traitor guard into battle.
