About this deal

Connect to Grow or the Smart Changing Pad (optional) to measure exactly how much your baby is eating at each breastfeeding session.

Adjustability: Parents appreciate being able to control the volume level and sound options, as well as color for sound machines that double as night lights. Some additional adjustable features to look for are timers and options to sync with an app. If we told you that we could almost guarantee better sleep for you and your baby, what would you be willing to pay for it!? First of all, it can be controlled by an app on your phone – this means you don’t have to enter baby’s room to adjust the volume! That, my friends, is probably the best feature. The biggest Con in my opinion is the inability to change the “scheduled program” once the current program is on…for example: If you have a schedule that starts at 6:55pm and it finishes at 6:55am, and instead of going off that early, you want to change it to 7:15am, the Hatch won’t respond to the new changes until the old cycle is through. It makes it really irritating for last minute changes to any schedule. The colors of the night light were soft and provided a nice subtle glow in the nursery. The orange and yellow were very similar to one another, but the other colors were beautiful. The matte exterior makes for a more muted light. My toddler had never used any sort of night light or time-to-rise feature before, so starting while he was still in his crib was an interesting exercise because it’s helping us create those time-to-rise sleep signals before making the big switch. While the light was distracting for both my 7- and 1.5-year-old at first, we did eventually land on the dimmest light setting, which helped the novelty of the light in the room wear off after a few days. The Rest+ is an upgraded version of the original Hatch nightlight, with some additional features. Hatch Rest Plus Smartphone Control With Alexa Compatibility It has the same “Wake up” feature to teach your kids what time in the morning they can get up and start the day. Sound

This is when things got fun! You can now program your own (or your child's own!) favorite combinations of sounds and lights. Then the app tells you how to use the silver touch ring to control the Rest. Since we hadn't read the manual, this was obviously very helpful! It’s also part sound machine, which means it can play various tones including white noise, like ocean sounds, nature sounds, static, soothing lullabies, and more to help your child fall asleep (or wake them up).

When we brought our newborn baby home from the hospital, I unboxed the Hatch and popped it on top of the dresser in our room near his bassinet so we could use the light for his overnight feedings. But in the end, the real winner is not either of these baby sound machines, but happy well-rested babies (and their parents!). Or, try a parent-tested (and baby-approved) sound machine and nightlight? The Hatch sound machine first hit the market when it did well on the show “Shark Tank”. Since then, moms have been raving about how the Hatch Baby Rest helps their babies sleep better. The color wheel makes it possible to basically choose any color you want, not just primary colors. Nice touch!

If your toddler is anything like mine, it’s unlikely he or she will need anything to wake up – what the light does is tell your kids it is NOT time to rise, and they should stay quietly in their room until the light turns green (or whatever color you select that means ‘wake up’). Here is the best we could do, to showcase what the Hatch Rest looks like in the dark (well, in a dimly lit room!): So which noise machines are consumers choosing and why? Look for a unit that features countless options for you to personalize your noise. These models have a rotating cap that you turn to find just the right sound you want. They are compact and highly recommended for traveling. Some machines have all the options with 64 sound choices and even a timer. For a simple sound machine, HoMedics White Noise Sound Machine offers a compact product with the basic noises to help you fall asleep easily. And finally, consumers recommend bedside units that have all the basic sleep sounds including rain and ocean. While this is a fancy night light/noise machine, there is still some teaching involved. Especially if you are getting it for your toddler and not your baby. Consistency will be your friend when implementing the Hatch Baby Rest.I’ve heard about the Hatch Baby Rest from many parents while working as a sleep consultant, but I never really needed anything like that for my own son…until he started waking early (5:30-6am) once we transitioned him to a big bed. Rest Mini includes 1 free month of access to Hatch Premium, a snoozy library of content designed to help wind down, relax and get ready for sleep. Receive updates from your baby’s caregiver while you are away, including when your baby last ate or slept. Of course, if you have the app, you'll never really be using these buttons once everything is programmed (sleep times, nap times, time to wake).

So, what’s the final verdict? Honestly, these are both great devices, so the real contest here isn’t which one has the most bells and whistles – it’s which one best suits your family and home. Hatch Restore includes a free trial to Hatch Sleep Membership, an ever-growing library of expert-approved content designed to help you decrease stress, increase well-being, and sleep better. There are 11 different sound options. My top 3 favourites being the Ocean, the Birds, and the Rain. I also love that there is an option for no noise - so beneficial for quiet time or if you use a different noise machine at night time. Then, just in case you have more than one Hatch device paired with your phone, it will allow you to select which one you want to use.
