Morávek, Daniel. "Víte, jak vznikl název Jaru? Podívejte se, jak se mycí prostředek měnil v čase" (in Czech). Internet Info, s.r.o . Retrieved 2016-10-13. Maintaining a clean and healthy environment is vitally important for you and your family. We’ve got a huge selection of cleaning products including anti-bacterial sprays and wipes. These will make sure that harmful germs and bacteria don’t stand a chance on tables, countertops and other kitchen surfaces. And once you’ve given everything a wipe down, dry your surfaces with a kitchen roll or tissue. We now examine the eco-credentials of each washing-up liquid that we test, so that you can make a more informed buying decision. We measure how long the foam lasts, because most of us empty the bowl once the foam runs out. This can be a waste of washing-up liquid, as losing the foam doesn’t necessarily mean that the liquid isn’t capable of cleaning any more dishes.

Fairy soap bars were originally manufactured by Newcastle upon Tyne company Thomas Hedley Co., which was acquired by Procter & Gamble in 1927.

P&G use the Fairy brand in many European markets for premium hand and automatic dishwashing products and also for a range of non-bio and sensitive skin focused laundry products in the UK and Ireland.

The GHI team put 24 brands of washing up liquid through two rigorous tests. Firstly, they counted how many greasy plates one manufacturer-recommended dose could bring to a clean finish. Too late? Stop the dishwasher. Lay down towels to soak up all those suds and thoroughly clean out the dispenser to remove any trace of washing up liquid. If the foam still isn’t disappearing, pour a mug of white vinegar inside your machine to help banish those bubbles. Run a couple of cycles until it’s fully clean and dry. How we test washing up liquid Removing fat from dirty dishes is the most important part of our test. We count the number of plates a bowl of washing-up liquid can wash before we start to see fat residue left behind on the plates. Products that wash more plates will last longer, cutting down on the times you need to change the water when dealing with dirty dishes.

In our foam-duration test, we smear 759 plates with different foods, including beef tallow, margarine, lard and flour. We count the number of plates that each liquid cleans before the foam disappears. How well does the washing-up liquid fight tough, baked-on grease? Washing-up liquids have multiple active ingredients, including surfactants, detergents, hydrotropes and antibacterial chemicals. Surfactants lift grease and dirt, and are also involved in generating foam. So when the bubbles have gone, the surfactants have too. The detergents and antibacterial chemicals will still be active, so you can carry on cleaning without the foam, but the washing-up liquid won't perform as well. Fairy Bar Soap". It is closely related to the Dawn dishwashing product range sold in the USA and to Dreft, Yes and JAR brands used by P&G in various European and international markets. In Sweden and Norway, P&G premium dishwashing products are branded as Yes, as seen on the adjacent picture. It was introduced in 1961 and is by far the biggest-selling detergent in Sweden. [8]

Find out more about how Which? tests washing-up liquids, including big brands like Fairy and Ecover, below. It’s not magic, but it is clever. Washing up liquid contains molecules with two parts – one loves water and the other hates it. The hydrophobic side grabs onto grease (i.e. the food residue on your plate) but the hydrophilic side is stronger and pulls the molecule into the water, taking all that oil and grime with it. How much washing up liquid should I use? Our tough-grease test simulates cleaning leftover fat from grilling meat or roasting potatoes off metal cookware. What is its environmental impact? Fairy is an international brand, primarily used for washing up liquid and dishwasher detergent, owned by the American multinational consumer products company, Procter & Gamble. The brand originated in the United Kingdom in 1898 [1] and is now used on a number of P&G products in various markets. We carry out our washing-up liquid tests at 45°C – and more recently at 30°C too – to see whether washing-up liquid performs as well at a lower temperature. How long does the foam last?
