About this deal

The real test, though, is in the printing. If the object you're trying to print pulls off the bed, or if it adheres better on one side of the platform than the other, it's still out of alignment, and so you'll have to tweak it again. Also, even when it is set properly, the bed can lose alignment over time and have to be readjusted. After finishing the update, remove the TF card from the motherboard slot and delete the bin file inside.

In addition to other data, a start and end G-code is also defined. These are commands that the printer executes before and after the print job. It prints for example two lines before printing to stimulate extrusion and to wipe off any leaked filament (like a skirt). So far, we’ve seen how similar the Ender 3 Neo and Ender 3 V2 Neo are in various aspects. But, the Ender 3 V2 Neo is more expensive than the Ender 3 Neo, so what do you get for the added cost? We’ll cover the differences between the Ender 3 Neo and Ender 3 V2 Neo in this section. Bed Material The V2 comes with all the tools you should need for assembly—although, as mentioned, I also needed to use one of my own wrenches to resolve an issue. This is not the model to get if you are looking to simply plug and print. Many closed-frame printers, as well as the pre-assembled Prusa i3 MK3S+, fit that profile, though the latter costs about three times as much as the V2.

The spool-holder dowel is held in place on the spool holder with a plastic nut, about an inch in diameter. The nut comes attached to the dowel and should unscrew from it in a manner similar to opening a child-proof cap to a pill bottle. Try as I might, though, I couldn’t get the nut to budge by hand. I ultimately had to remove it using a wrench that could open wide enough to securely grasp it. Creality's Ender-5 Pro, which I tested concurrently with the V2, uses the same dowel-and-nut combo, but I was able to separate them on the first try, no wrench needed. If you’ve used Cura before, you’ll notice that the Creality slicer software has a striking resemblance to Cura, and it’s basically exactly the same to use. The Ender 3 V2 Neo has a Bowden extruder and is therefore not well suited for flexible filaments like TPU. Wrong retraction settings can cause a lot of printing errors. The first print error caused by a suboptimal retraction is stringing. Therefore, most retraction calibration objects are designed to favor stringing.

Creality Slicer lets you see a multi-angle view of your model by changing the angle of the bed to 3D view front, top, left, and right view. You can also rotate and move the model around the bed, scale it along the X, Y, and Z axes. The inclusion of a full-metal, single-gear Bowden extruder is a very welcome upgrade that the two printers have received as part of the Neo update. The metal extruder increases the extrusion force and makes jams less likely, a common concern with plastic extruders in the older models that these 3D printers are replacing. This extruder does not offer all of the benefits of the dual gear extruders found on more premium printers like the CR-10 Pro, however we have found that it works very well and is a definite improvement over the plastic extruders in the older models. Automatic Bed Leveling

Silent Stepper Drivers - Older 3D printers such as the Creality CR-10 produce a song-like sound when printing due to the frequencies of the motors moving. Newer electronics prevent this issue, making the printer substantially quieter. The only sound you will hear are the fans, which is much easier to ignore. The Ender Neo UI has been updated and improved! With a preview function, you can now preview the shape of your 3D models before they are printed! Within the slicer, you can also tweak the settings for infill settings, dual color printing, nozzle movement, slicer preview, and others.

Although it gets the job done, we still feel like Creality can do better with this knob. Most 3D printers in this price range, like the Anycubic Kobra, now use touchscreens. Other Ender-3 V2 Neo Features Build Volume Interestingly, the Ender 3 Neo one-ups the Ender 3 V2 Neo in one area: the user interface supports 9 languages, including English, Spanish, German, Chinese, and others, while the Ender 3 V2 supports only English and Chinese. Which 3D Printer Should You Choose? As you can see, the quality of the print was consistent until around 100 – 120 mm/s. At this printing speed, we notice some inconsistencies in the bonding between the layers, and some slight stringing starts. But still, it wasn’t horrendous. Minimum Layer HeightThe Ender-3 V2 Neo may not have a touch screen display, but there’s something to love about its user interface – the model preview function. It shows you a 3D colored image of what you’re about to print. So we brought out the classic speed test tower. In this test, the printer starts printing this model at a low speed and gradually increases print speed as it goes higher up the tower. For every 12.5 mm increase in height, the print speed increases by 20 mm/s.

Some of the most significant areas where the Creality Ender 3 V2 Neo differs from the Creality Ender 3 Neo are:

Overview

While PC spring steel plate has very good adhesion, it can be hard to remove prints even with the ability to bend the build plate. The carborundum plate on the Ender 3 V2 is a better overall build surface in our experience, since prints are much easier to remove once the bed cools without any need for removing the bed surface. We’ve also found that it’s far easier to damage the PC surface of the steel build plate if the first layer leveling is too low. We’ve analyzed these two varieties of build plates in more detail in our bed material guide. Put the firmware file "Ender-3 V2 Neo-Marlin2.0.8.3-HW-V4.2.2-SW-V1.1.8C-CR-Touch-20230324.bin" into the root directory of TF card. Both the Ender 3 Neo and Ender 3 V2 Neo feature a build volume of 220 x 220 x 250 mm, which is the standard size on most Ender 3 printers, including the previous non-Neo versions of these printers. It’s slightly larger than the 200 mm cube that most entry-level 3D printers offer, but the slight increase in size is beneficial in a few ways. First, these 3D printers occupy almost the same desktop area as their smaller cousins, meaning you won’t need to clear off a large desk space to use them. Second, the enlarged Z-axis allows 3D printing of models with a taller profile. With some creative planning, you can also print wider 3D prints alongside the Z-axis. There are a few other minor differences between the Ender 3 Neo and Ender 3 V2 Neo, which are not dealmakers or dealbreakers in themselves. Still, they are some nice-to-haves for the more premium model. These include an integrated toolbox and belt tensioners, which add to the improved usability and polish of the Ender 3 V2 Neo.
