About this deal

rdmadison - Since I have cleaned, aligned, disassembled, etc. a number of Zephrys over the years, my comments are from experience. The American B&L binoculars have always rivaled Zeiss in terms of quality of materials and workmanship. Coatings on the Zephyrs appeared during the WWII era, or shortly thereafter. B&L coatings are relatively soft and easily rubbed or marred. But that has little effect on opitcal image. Japanese coatings are very hard when compared to the B & L on the other hand. The most common fractional and decimal equivalents are listed below. 64 th

The second number, 32, 35, 40 or 50, represents the objective lens diameter or the objective lens size. An object lens collects light from a natural environment from which your binoculars are able to observe. The clarity of the image is determined by the lens. Proceed right to left. Multiply the ones digit of the bottom number to the next digit to the left in the top number. If you carried a digit, add it to the result and write the answer below the equals line. If you need to carry again, do so. as shown in the image to the right. Note that the denominator of a fraction cannot be 0, as it would make the fraction undefined. Fractions can undergo many different operations, some of which are mentioned below. Proper fraction button is used to change a number of the form of 9/5 to the form of 1 4/5. A proper fraction is a fraction where the numerator (top number) is less than the denominator (bottom number). This process can be used for any number of fractions. Just multiply the numerators and denominators of each fraction in the problem by the product of the denominators of all the other fractions (not including its own respective denominator) in the problem. EX: When shopping for binoculars, you might notice one of the specifications is 7x35. This refers to the magnification and field of view (FOV) of the binoculars, so it’s an important specification to pay attention to before you buy. This article explains what 7x35 means on binoculars and how it can affect your field of view, depth perception, and more. Binoculars are great for bird watching, hunting, or enjoying the view. But what do all those numbers mean? The first number, 7, is the magnification. This means that the image you see through the binoculars will be seven times bigger than what you see with your naked eye. The second number, 35, is the objective lens diameter in millimeters. It stands to reason that clearer the image would be with better lighting. You need your binoculars to gather a certain amount of light as we mentioned above due to the unpredictable light situation. The Field of View This means that you’ll be able to see more of the bird at once, but it will appear smaller. If you want to focus on one part of the bird, then 7x35 might not be best. The other thing to consider is how far away from the bird you’re standing. A higher magnification might not matter as much if you’re close up because your eye can still make out details from close distances.

Long multiplication means you're doing multiplication by hand. The traditional method, or Standard Algorithm, involves multiplying numbers and lining up results according to place value. These are the steps to do long multiplication by hand: Starting with the ones digit of the bottom number, the multiplier, multiply it by the last digit in the top number the decimal would then be 0.05, and so on. Beyond this, converting fractions into decimals requires the operation of long division. I doubt that more than a handful of people who post to the binocular section of birdforum have ever looked through the Zephyr, and of course one reason is that relatively few were sold in the UK and Europe. I only discovered it recently myself, and I am amazed by its sharpness, contrast, and brightness. It does have its downside (field of view, close focus, amber cast), but there is a reason it was one of the most popular postwar birding binoculars in the USA for at least twenty years. And other binoculars from the 1950s and 1960s go unnoticed. For example the Bushnell Custom 7x35 is very fine, with a wider field of view than the Zephyr. Even the early FPO-made Custom, which dates between about 1959 and 1965, has remarkable color fidelity, which I did not think was possible in a binocular at that time.Fraction subtraction is essentially the same as fraction addition. A common denominator is required for the operation to occur. Refer to the addition section as well as the equations below for clarification. a This is the lens at the front of the binoculars that gathers light. A larger lens (lower number) produces a brighter and clearer image because it gathers lighter than a smaller one. However, if you have poor eyesight and can’t handle higher magnifications, use lower numbers like 8x25 to make things easier.

Also, binoculars that are not damaged by water intrusion and that can be used in any type of weather are important for rescue and surveillance efforts. It is therefore imperative that the binoculars are waterproof and fogproof so that they can be used in temperatures from cold arctic regions to hot deserts. Exit Pupil A binocular has a maximum magnification of 160x. Usually, these are reserved for professional astronomers and can be very expensive. Long multiplication with decimals using the standard algorithm has a few simple additional rules to follow. Unlike adding and subtracting integers such as 2 and 8, fractions require a common denominator to undergo these operations. One method for finding a common denominator involves multiplying the numerators and denominators of all of the fractions involved by the product of the denominators of each fraction. Multiplying all of the denominators ensures that the new denominator is certain to be a multiple of each individual denominator. The numerators also need to be multiplied by the appropriate factors to preserve the value of the fraction as a whole. This is arguably the simplest way to ensure that the fractions have a common denominator. However, in most cases, the solutions to these equations will not appear in simplified form (the provided calculator computes the simplification automatically). Below is an example using this method. a Magnification refers to the binoculars ability to magnify objects, and is measured as the binocular’s power. It is important to keep in mind when buying binoculars that larger magnifications do not necessarily equal better ones.the numerator is 3, and the denominator is 8. A more illustrative example could involve a pie with 8 slices. 1 of those 8 slices would constitute the numerator of a fraction, while the total of 8 slices that comprises the whole pie would be the denominator. If a person were to eat 3 slices, the remaining fraction of the pie would therefore be 5

When you've multiplied the ones digit by every digit in the top number, move to the tens digit in the bottom number. As I mentioned above, with 7x35 binoculars, you can see objects up to seven times closer than the naked eye. They’re great for birdwatching, wildlife observation, and even stargazing. It also means they work well in low-light conditions. If you’re looking at stars or something else celestial, they will still be crisp and clear when there’s not a lot of light available. Proper fraction button and Improper fraction button work as pair. When you choose the one the other is switched off. When a is a fraction, this essentially involves exchanging the position of the numerator and the denominator. The reciprocal of the fraction 3 Once again I would like to focus on instruments I've handled personally; listing all models and their variants would mean writing a separate article. In mathematics, a fraction is a number that represents a part of a whole. It consists of a numerator and a denominator. The numerator represents the number of equal parts of a whole, while the denominator is the total number of parts that make up said whole. For example, in the fraction of 3 Binoculars are portable instruments that combine two miniature telescopes to allow the user to see faraway objects clearly. They are able to magnify objects more than 10 times. Birdwatchers and whale watchers use binoculars frequently. Almost everyone carries one while on vacation. The first multiple they all share is 12, so this is the least common multiple. To complete an addition (or subtraction) problem, multiply the numerators and denominators of each fraction in the problem by whatever value will make the denominators 12, then add the numerators.
