About this deal

The book surely has depth. It is not a simple “marriage of convenience” book, it has another story to tell. It is captivating, making you wonder all the time. Of course, it has problems here and there, but it is still good. Although it is a very long book, I never needed to skip anything. I read every line, never getting bored. Life is going pretty well for Dr. Jude Winter. She has a rewarding job in the geriatric division of a London hospital and is looking forward to her wedding to fiancé Matt in two weeks time.

I read it in one sit! The characterization is spotless! The pacing was perfectly balanced, unputdownable, riveting. I loved this book! I loved the conclusion! This man's past reads like a young and restless episode....I mean being a manwhore is one thing why do I need the details man I was thinking about giving four stars but I decided to give more because of powerful messages the author gave and I also advise you to read the author more which made me round up 4.5 stars to 5! The police put forward several theories, none of which satisfy Jude, and make even more accusations. But it is the final theory that is the most chilling and absolutely feasible. Liam vraagt haar om een bijzondere gunst: zou ze hem in het weekend willen ontmoeten in een cottage in Norfolk?the sexual tension? banter? smut? it was all here. and there's one chapter i really loved because it has every tropes i like which is the ZOO chapter. that chapter was so cute i wish there was more like that. and not gonna lie, i thought there were gonna be more scenes like that because we were teased about such scenes like them mentioning the halloween festival, thanksgiving dinner with Vienna's family, museum of natural history etc. but you know what happened again? MORE TELLING > SHOWING and time jumps. like please ma'am don't tease me like that. why even mention it if you're not gonna show it. Vienna Stratton was a charming heroine. She's level-headed, mature and doesn't let her past weigh her down. Although she had a difficult upbringing, she still manages to be the better person in all situations. She's also hard-working, ambitious and very loyal! I loved her snarkiness and the occasional sarcastic comments she made. She's definitely not as sarcastic and OTT as SW's other heroines, which I appreciated. Vienna is genuinely a good person and thinks beyond herself. In 1989 she became acting literary editor at the New Statesman, before moving to the Observer, where she was deputy literary editor for five years, and then a feature writer and executive editor.

Both are intelligent, educated, accomplished women, who have SOMEHOW lost their sense of self worth after getting married. Up until more or less this point in the movie, "The Favor" is smart and intriguing. The screenplay, by Sara Parriott and Josann McGibbon, has a good feel for female best-friend relationships, and the dialogue has life and edge to it. I was also pleasantly surprised by Elizabeth McGovern, who I hadn't seen in awhile, and who skirts the awkwardness of her role without avoiding the wit, until . . . Newcomer Nora Murphy is a welcome addition to the world of domestic suspense, and a blurb from Shari Lapena fits in perfectly with her style, her pacing, and the Ugliness Hiding Behind the Veil of Perfection trope that so often pops up in these type of stories. This one IS different from your average domestic tale...in some ways. Having a one sided relationship that slowly morphed into a reciprocal relationship between the two characters kept things exciting and unique. There ARE some overused tropes in this one, however, like the alcoholic tendencies of one of our narrators, so be forewarned. I don't necessarily mind this as a device, but normally I feel it really serves to help the story, and in this case it seemed superfluous. It’s no secret that the Nicci French duo are on my favourite writers’ list, so as soon as I heard they had a new book out I had to read it! I loved the premise of agreeing blindly to a “favour” a person you owe something to asks of you, without knowing any details, and then having to reap the unforeseen circumstances – this had so much potential to be tense and even a bit creepy (like one of their earlier novels SECRET SMILE). And Dane is just so cold man ugh....I do like his possessive behavior even though that too is OTT....like beating people up just goes away lordt

Vienna was such a strong heroine but she was also vulnerable and sweet which is my favorite type of heroine! 🙌🏼. I loved that that there was also a bit of an age gap between them. I also feel like Dane’s grumpiness matched Vienna’s sassy/sunshine personality so well ❤️. In this twisty new stand-alone novel from internationally bestselling author Nicci French, a young woman agrees to do a favor for an estranged former boyfriend—but when things go horribly wrong, one small task turns into a murder investigation that completely upends her life, ensnaring her in a deadly web of secrets and lies. Now, as much as i’m a hoe for age gap romances, somehow this felt NOTHING like it, which led my body to cringe every single time he called her ‘baby girl’. So there were a lot of things that I enjoyed about this book, starting from the fake marriage trope, workplace romance, the slow burn, the broody alpha hero, the strong smart not a doormat heroine, the side characters specially her family, how they respect each other even if the whole thing was “fake”, and finally the angst which turned into an explosive chemistry.

one thing that did really make this book for me, was the communication. that was amazing and i really did love how easily they talked about everything. Thanks to St. Martins Press, NetGalley and author Nora Murphy for this ARC. I’ve given my opinions freely and honestly. It’s due to be published on May 31, 2022. Dr. Jude Winter hasn’t seen her high school boyfriend in over a decade, since that one heady summer night when a car crash changed everything. She’s never forgotten her first love, and when he suddenly reappears after all these years asking for a favor, she finds herself not only saying yes but also lying about it to her fiancé. When Liam is murdered, Jude finds herself in a tangled web that seems to pull more tightly around her at every turn. If you like a storyline to be tied up neatly at the end, then this may not suit. Me? I loved it and still can't stop thinking about it. I always seem to have an unpopular opinion, but this time it's because I seemed to enjoy the book more than the other reviewers. Emily does this, but when she tells Kathy that Tom is awesome and they had sex all night, their friendship suffers, as does Kathy's marriage. Kathy becomes even more distracted, and regularly tries to seduce oblivious Peter.
