The RHINOCORT AQUA (budesonide) Nasal Spray 32 mcg bottle has been filled with an excess to accommodate the priming activity. The bottle should be discarded after 120 sprays following initial priming, since the amount of budesonide delivered per spray thereafter may be substantially less than the labeled dose. Each spray delivers 32 mcg of budesonide to the patient. In children, steroids can lead to growth suppression in children and adolescents. Caution is advised when using steroid nasal sprays long-term in children and adolescents. In patients who have asthma or other clinical conditions requiring long-term systemic corticosteroid treatment, too rapid a decrease in systemic corticosteroids may cause a severe exacerbation of their symptoms It may take up to 2 weeks before your symptoms improve. For best results, keep using the medication as directed, even if you feel fine. Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve, or if they get worse while using Rhinocort Allergy. Congenital malformations were studied in 2,014 infants born to mothers reporting the use of inhaled budesonide for asthma in early pregnancy (usually 10-12 weeks after the last menstrual period), the period when most major organ malformations occur. 1 The rate of overall congenital malformations was similar compared to the general population rate (3.8 % vs. 3.5%, respectively). The number of infants born with orofacial clefts and cardiac defects was similar to the expected number in the general population (4 children vs. 3.3 and 18 children vs. 17-18, respectively). The Rhinocort Aqua brand name has been discontinued in the U.S. If generic versions of this product have been approved by the FDA, there may be generic equivalents available. What is Rhinocort Aqua? Interactions with Strong Cytochrome P450 3A4 Inhibitors Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. This includes medicines that you buy without a prescription and herbal medicines. This is because Rhinocort can affect the way some medicines work and some medicines can have an effect on Rhinocort and your doctor may wish to monitor you carefully. The recommended dose for adults and the elderly is two sprays of Rhinocort Aqua into each nostril in the morning. Alternatively your doctor may ask you to take one spray of Rhinocort Aqua into each nostril every morning and evening. This may be reduced by your doctor once your symptoms have improved. It is important to use Rhinocort Aqua regularly.
