However I did do some research on these items as I was a little apprehensive about buying one. This one came out too of my list. I have tried attaching my phone to it and it seems to fit very well. It's sturdy, not cheap and thin plastic (23/11/2020) Karen - Devon Our advisers can answer questions and talk you through a wide range of topics connected with disability, including:

The Celestron NexGo DX is a digiscoping kit for a telescope, spotting scope or binoculars; it impresses but comes with limitations

The Celestron NexYZ is as good a smartphone adapter as exists. Sure, it can droop a little while in use, but it’s more secure and more stable than most, and at no time did we fear our smartphone would fall off and hit the ground. Some pleasing images of the Moon proved possible using the focal photography technique the Celestron NexYZ enables. Attaching a smartphone to a telescope in this way also creates a live view screen that simplifies the sharing of whatever the telescope is pointed at, with no need for anyone to bend and strain to look through the eyepiece. Digiscoping is essentially a method of photography or videography that uses an external form of magnification. To put it into simpler terms, in a way most people use it today, it’s taking a pic with your phone through a spotting scope or binoculars. Excellent addition to my telescope Having searched online and looked at other versions I am glad I bought this. It does what it says on the box. Not difficult to use and good results with my phone. Have also tried it on my binoculars and same result. Well up to the job (03/05/2019) Peter Southern - Corby, Northants So why is the Celestron NexGO DX referred to as a ‘kit’? It comes with a Bluetooth remote. That’s it. Rather small and easy to lose, this CR2032 battery-powered thumb-remote does overcome one of the pain-points of afocal astrophotography. Touching the screen of a smartphone to take a photo is to be avoided when focusing on, say, the Moon (which is what we used the NexGO to capture). However, avoiding the inevitable wobble of doing so is actually very easy, the magic words being: “Hey Siri, take a photo.” Almost all smartphone cameras, iOS and Android, include both voice-control and shutter delay options. So the Bluetooth remote probably isn’t required. However, just as a thoroughly decent smartphone adaptor has arrived the game has changed, with now mainstream quad-camera smartphones presenting another big challenge that the Celestron NexYZ doesn’t quite overcome.

The universal smartphone adapter will work with smartphones from 56mm - 81mm width and eyepiece diameters from 26mm - 51mm. Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip for "affordable flagship" phones. It's designed to replace the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. While the 7 Gen 3 has some newer and better features compared to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 announced in April, it's not a "plus" chip and therefore doesn't have quite that level of performance in most areas. (A faster 7+ Gen 3 could be announced at a later date.) New features in the Gen 3 that are a first for the 7 series include: Key specs – Optics: 6x magnification, 20mm objective lens, coated lenses; Field of view: 7.58°; Exit pupil: 3.3mm; Eye relief: N/S; Close focus: 0.25m; Weatherproofing: N/A; Accessories provided: Lanyard, soft carry pouch; Length: 10cm; Weight: 92gMost of the advice we’d give you if you were buying a set of binoculars also applies to monoculars. Price, size and weight are all going to be big considerations, but otherwise the key factors are the level of magnification and the size of the objective lens. This is the larger lens at the end of the monocular, and will usually have a size of between 25 and 55mm (any larger and you’re in telescope or spotting score territory). The bigger it is, the better it will be at gathering light, giving you a brighter, crisper image. The magnification speaks for itself. Monoculars tend to start at 7x magnification and go up through 8x and 10x to 12x and 15x. Hence, you’ll often see a monocular described as 8 x 25 or 10 x 42. As you may have noticed there isn’t a binocular adapter option with Ollin. Well, not yet. So, for those looking to shed weight and not carry a spotter, you won’t be able to use the Ollin system. Limited Options An excellent choice for nature photography with binoculars and spotting scopes, simple fast setup. This adapter allows your phone camera to take images or video of what you are viewing through your instrument allowing you to capture those rare sights.

In the event you plan to use 1 specific phone and optic for phone scoping, Phone Skope also offers a full lineup of specific fitting adapters that service hundreds of optics and smartphones. When I phone scope I prefer to use the specific fitting adapters from Phone Skope. The reason being they are fit specifically to my smartphone and optics which allow me to take capture more in a matter of seconds. I have used the Universal attachments in the past and they work great as well. The only downside is that you are spending 10-15 more seconds to align everything properly, not a big deal but worth mentioning. No matter which method of phone scoping you prefer, either the Universal or specific fitting will meet your needs. Beyond Basic Digiscoping Ollin is a magnetic digiscoping system that ensures perfect and secure alignment every single time, all within about a second. There are three main parts to the system: an eyepiece that goes over the ocular lens on your optic, a cover for that eyepiece, and a very low-profile case for your phone (Magcase). These pieces work together to provide the most streamlined and efficient digiscoping experience. Celestron NexYZ connects your smartphone to your telescope, spotting scope, binoculars, monocular, and microscope so you can capture images and video through the eyepiece. This adapter works with a wide range of mobile phone models, including all the latest devices from Samsung, Google, and Apple. Modern phone cameras are exceptionally good and this adapter allows you to take full advantage of that easy to use technology. Of course, the larger objective lens and metal construction have an impact on weight, although the way that weight is distributed means that there’s not too much wobble if held one-handed. However, you will need a second hand to shift the stiff central focusing ring. Beyond that, this is an excellent monocular, offering serious optics for a sensible price.

Phone Skope digiscopes offer more than just photographic opportunities. It serves as a valuable tool for cataloging and documenting the animals you encounter during your hunting expeditions. By leveraging the capabilities of your smartphone, you can create a comprehensive record of your wildlife sightings, noting important details such as species, behavior, and habitat. This not only adds to the excitement of the hunt but also contributes to conservation efforts and wildlife research by providing valuable data to scientists and wildlife management organizations.
