About this deal

The Explore Scientific 10” Truss Tube Dobsonian has all the great performance of any 10” Dobsonian, vastly besting the NexStar 6SE yet collapsing into only a slightly larger volume when dismantled. This telescope is extremely compact compared to a solid-tubed 8” or 10” yet still comes together in minutes, and features an all-aluminum frame with no cheap plastic or particle board parts. The focuser is also a fancy 2” dual-speed Crayford design. However, the included finder and eyepiece are abysmal and you’ll need to buy or make a shroud for the open tube. My train of thought was to use the 6SE OTA and build from there, and well it was logical after buying a mount. The AVX is cheaply made as well, the circuit is bad welded and components inside are bad assembled, I have opened the mount several times to make it better or make it work, now these days is working like a champ after many bad nights, wasted the best nights of the year struggling with it.

Buy other brands, mod the OTA and use this lines I dedicated to you for your better experience. The OTA needs love to be good and I'm still learning the ins and outs of it while the weather improves again, meanwhile I haven't tested the tube for the complete satisfactory project, a galaxy or a planetary nebula could do this for me, the best integration I have maybe is about 3 hours, and it's not meeting my results. I think it is a 6 hour project scope for the speed and light gathering capabilities. NexStar+ Database 40,000 objects, 200 user defined programmable objects. Enhanced information on over 200 objects If you want to go even bigger than the Celestron NexStar 6SE’s 6-inch aperture, the most cost-effective way is to go for a Dobsonian design like the Celestron StarSense Explorer, which comes in 8-inch and 10-inch variants. It’s a completely manual telescope but comes with Celestron’s much more modern StarSense technology, which uses an app as a guide but requires a smartphone to be perched on an attached holder. Mirrorless System Lenses Canon RF Lenses Fujifilm X Mount Lenses Nikon Z Lenses Sony E Mount Lenses Sony G Master Lenses L Mount Lenses Micro Four Thirds Lenses Canon EF-M LensesNeptune– A near-stellar blue dot. Its largest moon, Triton, can just barely be glimpsed under dark and steady skies. A lot of my friends mention how this is a major downside to their other brands of omputerized telescopes – that they take ages to align. For planetary imaging, pair your NexStar 6SE with one of our Skyris cameras. Or, experiment with wide-field deep sky astroimaging by replacing the telescope’s secondary mirror with a DSLR or astronomical CCD camera with a Fastar/HyperStar lens assembly. From your first observing session and for years to come, the NexStar SE is your trusted companion.

Consensus: This is a seriously powerful telescope, great for beginners and experts alike, although its typically high price point makes it a little out of reach for newcomers. At this price, though, it's worth considering for everyone: you won't be disappointed with its quality, and its alignment technology is absolutely unrivalled. Once you get over 5” in diameter for the primary Aperture of any telescope, you start to get into what I consider large-bore telescopes, and that is where the best light gathering ability starts coming into play. While the telescope slews to its target — this model possesses nine speeds — the mount does make a great deal of noise, particularly when we used the moderate to fast settings. If you find the noise off-putting and are happy to observe without a computerized mount, it’s quite easy to switch over to a manual one given that the tube possesses a Vixen-style dovetail. Remember though, you will need a Vixen adapter if you want to fit the tube to another Celestron mount. Mirrorless Cameras Canon EOS-M Cameras Canon EOS-R Mirrorless Cameras Fujifilm X Mirrorless Cameras Nikon Z Cameras Sony Alpha Cameras Panasonic Lumix S Cameras Panasonic Lumix G Cameras Olympus OM-D & PEN Cameras Canon EOS-M Mirrorless Cameras Despite its smaller aperture and somewhat narrow field of view, many deep sky objects can be seen in detail. Large globular clusters are an exciting view under dark skies, as well as some of the brighter galaxies like M51, M31, or M33. The long focal length of the 6SE also allows for the observation of small planetary nebulae, such as M57, Caldwell 39, or Caldwell 63.Lens Filters Clear UV and Protection Filters Polarising Filters Neutral Density Filters Cokin Creative Filter System Other Filters Filter Stepping Rings Close-Up Lenses Our first target was Mars, its red hue immediately obvious, with other solar system targets even more impressive. Jupiter’s moons were presented clearly around the giant planet’s bright, happily, optically precise disk. There was no hint of any color fringing around this bright object. Ditto a First Quarter Moon, on which we observed the light and shadow close to the sunset/sunrise line. We could clearly see the magnificent Apennine Mountains, using high-power eyepieces to survey Mare Imbrium and the Archimedes crater in impressive detail. My question is around what camera (likely a ZWO) would work best with the Hyperstar?I'd like to keep the camera budget as low as makes sense -- as I think I understand that I may not need a cooled camera even for DSO with the short exposure times when using the Hyperstar. I am also wondering if there is a camera which could be "reasonably" good with the Hyperstar -- but also decent when mounted at the Eyepiece (without the Hyperstar) for planetary imaging? I'd like to avoid purchasing 2 cameras, but not sure if it's reasonable to expect one camera to handle both of those situations?

The StellaLyra 8”/ Zhumell Z8/Orion SkyLine 8 is a similarly great bargain to the larger AD10/Z10, though if you can afford the larger of the two models you’ll be rewarded greatly as the overall weight and bulk difference between a 10” and 8” is nearly immaterial. With gas giant Jupiter also at a good position in the sky and a few degrees away from the moon, the NexStar made short work of locating the planet and its four largest satellites: Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. Jupiter was visible in the field of view as a bright disk, with Ganymede and Europa appearing as sharp points of white light flanking the giant’s left limb, while Io and Callisto could be found relatively near to the planet’s right.Faint brown and cream bands were visible across Jupiter's surface. Mounted to the optical tube is also a red dot reflex sight for aiming in the sky. The build quality is not the greatest, but it suffices for simple star alignment before enabling the NexStar’s go-to. What Can You Observe Through The Celestron 6SE? The NexStar 6SE is one of the more expensive amateur astronomy telescopes you can buy. It’s also one of the most advanced. You don’t need batteries, at least initially, for the finderscope. It comes with its own batteries. Celestron Nexstar 6SE Pros and cons Pros:

The NexStar 6SE uses high quality optics to prevent distortions and keep the image sharp, whether you are looking at the moon’s surface or the Andromeda galaxy.Outside the Solar System, the NexStar 6SE is a solid performer, albeit limited somewhat by its aperture and field of view. You can expect to see a lot of open star clusters like M35, M11, and M67. Some large clusters, like the Pleiades (M45) and Beehive (M44), cannot fit into the field of view with the 6SE, though they can still be enjoyed. The bright globular star clusters such as M13, M15, and M22 are kind of resolved with 6 inches of aperture-though barely, and only with fairly decent skies. Smaller globulars will remain fuzzy patches of light. SkyAlign was developed to work in all conditions, so even if you live in a city with a lot of light pollution, this shouldn’t be a problem. Neptune– A near-stellar blue dot. Its largest moon Triton can just barely be glimpsed under dark and steady skies.
