About this deal

Some paperworks such as instruction manuals, Q.C. card, a card discount voucher and serial number card.

Hidizs, offered me this model, in exchange for writing an honest review. I want to make it clear that all my opinions written in this review have not been conditioned by this fact, nor will I ever write anything that I do not really think or feel here. I will only write about my personal opinion in relation to the revised product. I then switched to my tough to drive, Ether CX 25 ohm using balanced connection and the S9 drove it as it it was a desktop class amplifier! I had to actually turned down the volume for comfortable listening. The sound was a delight with excellent bass, detail, etc. It was so good I did not want to stop and take pictures of S9 to publish this review! To activate the S8, users are to plug in their earphones or headphones into its 3.5mm output, prior to connecting it to the source device. This problem is no longer prevalent on the S9 PRO Copper Limited Edition. I don’t think that I would choose this as my main listening device, I don’t find myself wanting to use this instead of any of my desktop devices. In fact, I would probably put it in the same group as my THX789, it is not my favourite amplifier but it is a very useful amplifier. I use the THX when I am listening for specific things or comparing specific items, but I don’t find myself sitting down and choosing the THX for a long relaxed listening session, the Hidizs S9 Pro makes me feel the same sort of way. It’s true that it can produce some fatigue on longer sessions. Martha has been chilled at this impedance by BAL, giving values lower than the SE output: 1V, 69mW and 68mA.What we do get is volume control, 6 filters to choose from and a 4.4mm output to replace the 2.5mm. All of these are improvements, while the price stays basically the same as the old model. There is nothing really to explain as far as functionality. You plug the USB cable between the S9 Pro and the device you want to connect it to and that’s it, off you go. Once again it falters in BAL at 33Ω, it matches the values for SE: 2.2V, 150mW and 66mA, a bit far from the 180mW it promises. It would have been necessary to reach 2.4V, but it is very close.

Both units feature Hidizs’s signature sonic profile. The only striking difference is a slightly slubbier bass response that accentuates a lower sub-bass shelf, and a slower-note decay. Consequentially, bass/baritone regions or instruments begin to meld into another. The S9 Pro Plus Martha has a decent sized soundstage, not the most widest sounding dongle but not small either. Presentations of instruments are accurately reproduced especially on strings as it gives a crisp with well-defined overtones on guitar either rhythm and acoustic ones, a vibrant and lustrous sound of a violin on every bowstroke on its strings. Piano tones seem to have a lively, rich and eloquent sound. A brisk and dynamics on percussives like snare drums as it has that sharpness, precise and penetrating sound. And finally the woodwinds like saxophone and fife have that warm, lustrous and incisive in a higher note and brass instruments like trumpets and horns have this metallic, brilliant, blaring and austere in lower note register. I started testing with my Sennheiser HD-650 high impedance headphone using unbalanced output. There was enough power to generate good volume. Everything was right with the sound with great fidelity, detail, and overall performance.

One DiversityNames are important and as it turns out, Martha is a dope name. The naming of Martha represents a reminder to the fact that we are “one diversity” and to cherish “nature” & “life”. Those were Hidizs words. I’d say that’s an honorable sentiment and one I’m sure we could all get behind. At least Hidizs put some reflective and virtuous distinction unto the personality of this brand-new device. With that all said, perhaps I went a bit long on that breakdown? Hey… Now you know. Before we move on, I want to talk about Sennheiser HD560s because the results were interesting. Surprisingly, the difference between S9 Pro and the Apple dongle is relatively small. If I pay careful attention, I can hear slightly more treble air and more crispy and textured bass notes with S9 Pro, but not day and night. I hear no noticeable difference in dynamic, clarity, fairness, and soundstage between S9 Pro and KA3. Is HD560s not that sensitive to sources?
