Tamogotchi pets don’t do anything but poop (digitally), walk around, age, and then die. But we treat and care for these little-pixelated pets like family. This stage was introduced on the Osutchi and Mesutchi, was reintroduced with the Tamagotchi Connection and (with the exceptions of the Version 5 and Version 5 Celebrity) was featured on every virtual pet until the Tamagotchi Friends (internationally) and the Tamagotchi iD (Japan), and has not been featured since.

As a general rule, the baby stage will last approximately one hour, and then evolve into the child stage. However, on certain vintage releases such as the Mori de Hakken!! Tamagotch, the Tamagotchi will remain in this stage for 24 hours if the white egg is chosen. On the Tamagotchi Osutchi and Mesutchi, babies will stay for 24 hours before evolving, sleep from 8pm to 9am and make discipline calls. The only exception is a Kuritchi that hatched from an egg which will evolve after an hour and act like a standard baby stage character. On the Tamagotchi Mini and most Tamagotchi Nano releases, the baby stage will last 24 hours, and then evolve into an adult, skipping the child and teen stages.Touch buttons allow you to interact in a whole new way by customizing your items, bathing your character and petting your Tamagotchi character with a swipe of a finger! By pressing down on the top of the unit, the user can take photographs of what is currently on the screen. When a photo can be taken, a camera icon will appear at the bottom left corner of the screen. The Pix can store up to 100 photos before requiring photos to be deleted. Viewing the photo in the album will also give the option of decorating the photos. The next time the user has a playdate, the receiving device will receive the greeting after the playdate ends. The greeting can be edited anytime, and will always be updated the next time a playdate is held. On the Mothra and Game de Hakken!! Tamagotchi 2, the player cannot interact with the character at all while it is in the cocoon - on the former this stage lasts for one hour, while on the latter it lasts for several in-game hours. The Baby Stage is the second stage of the Tamagotchi life cycle. After the egg hatches, a baby will be born from it. The baby starts off with both the Hungry and Happy meters depleted, therefore requiring immediate care. On versions that include the naming feature, the baby must be named before the user can begin caring for it. PLAY: Press ‘A’ until you get to your ITEM BOX, press ‘B’ to open the options, ‘B’ again to open your ITEMS, ‘B’ to begin playing with the item. Continue to play with your Tamagotchi character to increase its happiness.The Special Stage, sometimes referred to as the "secret" or "hidden" stage, is a variant of the adult stage that occurs when certain adult characters are treated a specific way, evolving into a unique character. The Special stage characters are often more difficult and complex to earn compared to the standard adult characters, sometimes requiring specific kinds of care throughout its entire life, or being influenced by generations that came before it. On the classic Tamagotchi, the Special character could live longer than any other character, with a maximum age of 25. Early growth charts would obscure these characters either by rendering them in shadow or by replacing them with a question mark symbol. Ambulance: This calls the ambulance which will send the Tamagotchi to the hospital if the Grim Gotchi has shown up to take them away. On initial setup of the date, time, and user's name and birthday, the Pix will also prompt the user to select a language, with English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese all built-in. On the Tamagotchi Plus Color and TamaTown Tama-Go, they may instead produce a female baby that grows into Grippatchi. On the Hexagontchi, the babies will grow into Tensaitchi Jr..
