About this deal

These filters are engineered to let every drop of coffee oil through, without letting any of the grounds through. The beauty of the AeroPress primarily lies in its simple yet versatile functionality. Craving an espresso-like cuppa? The AeroPress has you covered! In the mood for iced coffee to keep away the scorching summer sun? There’s an AeroPress recipe for that. However, the AeroPress’s versatility goes beyond brewing methods to include accessories and attachments that extend its functionality.

However, cloth ones require the most cleaning of all three types of AeroPress filters. So if ease of cleaning is your priority, you can just skip the AeroPress cloth filter. Cloth filters generally wind up occupying the middle ground between metal filters, and are reputed to offer the clarity of the paper filter and the flavor of the metal filter. When it comes to the best filters, coffee aficionados all have their own personal preferences. These are the ones that have been listed as ‘best’ filters, both Aeropress brand and otherwise. Best Metal Filters for the AeropressThey only come 3 to a box. but they are likely to last long enough to make up for the cost and small amount. Which Filters Are Most Affordable? The Aeropress is made to use paper filters. However, the metal filters on the market for Aeropress were designed for the Aeropress, so there’s not much incompatibility. Metal filters, on the other hand, can be used hundreds of times, so long as they are not broken, bent or damaged. Make sure your recipe or ratio of coffee to water is right. I usually use 30g of coffee with about 500ml of water, or 20g of coffee and 300-350ml of hot water for a large strong cup. As a general rule, a good coffee ratio to use for this method is 1:15 (one part coffee to 15 parts water). So to calculate, simply divide the volume of the cafetière (or of your desired end volume) by 15 to give you the coffee dose. For example, if you are using a large eight-cup French press that holds about 1 litre, use 67g coffee.

After ensuring all the grounds were submerged, we set a timer for roughly 30 seconds ( PS : You can take this time to enjoy the aroma of the brew). They can be used multiple times, so long as they are taken proper care of. With proper cleaning and handling, these filters can last years. It’s reusable, and comes with a pressure attachment that can be used instead of the filter cap of his Aeropress. In summary I would say the Aeropress metal filter is good at one thing, and perhaps one thing only - the recipe that I recommended in my earlier post. Even then, the Concetto Fine disc will do this job even better! Metal lasts longer and is cheaper in the long term, and leaves a heavier, richer flavor, but it requires more cleaning and may allow sediment through for less clarity in the brew.

Health-wise, they can also effectively remove concentrations of diterpenes phytochemicals in coffee that can affect your ability to control your cholesterol levels. A metal AeroPress filter allows more volatile oils from the coffee bean through, which means the coffee flavor tends to be bolder and deeper with a heavier body and mouthfeel. Environment (Sustainability): Based on eco-friendliness, metal filters come out as the clear winners. Sure, paper filters can be composted—but how many of you living in a city find that practical? Additionally, many paper filters (like those included with the AeroPress) are bleached using chemicals.

When you press the cafetière down, press it very slowly and gently so as not to agitate the coffee grounds. Don’t press right down to the bottom. Since 2005, there have been 8 versions of the Aeropress made, so paper filters might be more compatible with all 8 designs, as opposed to metal filters that are more rigid in size. When pressing the coffee, the resistance should be smooth. If it’s too high, your coffee might be too fine (and vice versa). We also decided to carry an 'unofficial' metal filter disc for Aeropress made by a Glasgow-based company called Concetto (it comes in two sizes, Fine and Superfine) which I have been using for the last 18 months, with great success.
