Bosch has a great range of mowers and they cater for all needs. Their CityMower 18 is ideal for smaller gardens where the needs are limited. I believe this is a great choice for people who want something that they can take out of the shed and get to work. The Bosch CityMower 18V-32-300 is a lightweight cordless lawn mower that provides expert lawn care in urban gardens. Convenient to use and robustly made, it features a powerful 18 V battery with an advanced battery management system that ensures extended run times. With its generous 32cm cutting width and 31 litre grass collector, this model is ideal for lawns of up to 300m2.
All of the other mowers from Bosch operate on a higher 32 voltage; the CityMower 18 is the only one that works with an 18v battery. However, the advantage of this is that it can power share with plenty of other 18v tools from the brand. This includes power tools like drills as well as other garden tools like hedge trimmers.The assembly process for all of the cordless lawn mowers that I tested was pretty similar. However, putting together this Bosch mower felt like a much more fiddly task than the other mowers. This began with the collection box. Since it’s a hard box, all you need to do is slot the pieces together. It took a couple of minutes to do so, which doesn’t seem long, but all of the other collection boxes that I’ve assembled were done in seconds rather than minutes. The Bosch CityMower 18 is also extremely light and easy to use, making it a great choice for pretty much anyone, especially if you have a small urban garden. This powerful little machine really is designed to make your life easier. Controls are appealingly straightforward - switch between 3 different cut heights with just a couple of button presses. Manual push mowers can be great in a small garden, especially if it’s nice and flat. You don’t need to worry about charging or power sources, and a good model does a great job of the grass while being surprisingly easy to push. Where the idea falls down is if the lawn is rough or bumpy, where there’s a slope, or if you like to keep the grass long between cuts, as all these things make the job much, much harder. You really need to cut the grass regularly if you’re going to use a manual mower. What else should you look out for? Admittedly, this mower does have a few minor weaknesses. First, it’s not as easy as it could be to change the cutting height; you need to put the mower on its side then move the spring-loaded bar on the front wheels. Second, there are only three cutting heights, and the minimum 3cm might not be enough for those who really love a hard-cropped patch of grass. Finally, the battery life isn’t great; you’re looking at around 20 minutes from a charge, then a wait of around two hours for a recharge. However, it’s compatible with other batteries from the Worx Powershare range, so you might be able to share spare batteries across a range of home and garden tools. If you have a small garden and you’re on a budget, you’ll love this little wonder.
With a 32cm cutting width , this lawn mower definitely offers quite a narrow cut. In fact, it’s the smallest cutting width of all of the lawn mowers that I tested. It may not be an issue for people with very small gardens, but a few extra centimetres would enable the job to get done a little faster. This Bosch CityMower 18 is NOT supplied with a rear roller. That said, if you are looking for a lawn mower to tend to an already well-maintained garden then this will suit you down to the ground.
