About this deal

One of the joys of 4G routers is that they’re usually incredibly easy to set up, as is the case with the Huawei B535 / Huawei HomeFi Plus. Featuring the latest CAT13 4G Modem technology, the B535 router will provide one of the fastest 4G network connections, and deliver this to your office computers and servers via wired Ethernet connectivity or to your office wireless devices, laptops and tablets to share your high speed 4G connection. The Three 5G Hub meanwhile has them all massively beat for speed – but again, you need 5G coverage to take advantage of that. It also curiously has fewer ethernet ports (just two), which might be an issue for some. The Huawei B535 does not have a WLAN extender function, i.e. the use of an existing WLAN as Internet access. There is also no WLAN timer. The Huawei B535-333 is a fast, reliable 4G+ router from Huawei featuring two SMA-female antenna connections, for use with an external antenna. While it's not the fastest model Huawei offers, it is highly reliable and can achieve speeds as high as 400Mb/s.

In theory, the modem of the Huawei B535 LTE router can reach speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 100 Mbit/s in the uplink (LTE Cat7). Almost all frequency bands important for Europe are supported, as the following list shows. Only the band 32 (1,500 MHz) cannot be used by the router, but there are no restrictions. Huawei does not provide any information about the possible CA combinations. and I did originally manage to make a couple of calls to/from my mobile, with a 20 or 30 year old handset. That makes it a lot more convenient than fibre broadband. There’s very little waiting and if you move house you can easily take your Huawei B535 with you. Performance & Speeds

This slim white rectangle comes in at 219 x 138mm and has a grey stand, slightly contrasting the colour of the box itself. There are a number of small lights along the front, showing you at a glance the router’s status, but that’s about as close as it gets to any kind of design flair. Setup If you want the fastest possible 4G Internet speeds then it may be worthwhile considering buying a 5G router. Most 5G routers will have an embedded 5G modem that also supports CAT20 4G Internet which means that you will get a much faster 4G connection speed compared to the CAT13 modem in the B535 router. Also, 3 Mobile are rolling out 5G to many locations so you may already be able to benefit from superfast 5G speeds, and if not yet available then you will be ready for 5G when it comes to your location. That’s not bad, but you’ll still need a SIM card and allowances to go with it, meaning there will be a monthly price too. However, I am also now very much of the view that the B535 is pretty poor, to say the least. (It is clearly possible that it is at least part of the problem.) Although the older B315 that I was using did what I needed to, it was clearly a mistake to blithely assume that the B535 would be ok and an improvement. So, in parallel with trying to make progress with the IPv4 problem, I’m also going to more seriously look at one or two other options, including the Mikrotik Chateau LTE12 and perhaps also their new ATL LTE18 external antenna with inbuilt router. I’ll probably start a separate thread with question on this shortly ….

I read on a couple of Vodafone forum threads that there may be an issue with the IPv4 or IPv6 APNs, so a similar situation as you discovered earlier in the thread. The design of the Huawei B535 WebBoxis nothing to get excited about, but that’s ok. Its plain white build will disappear neatly into almost any home. Most people don’t want their routers to stand out, and this one certainly doesn’t, even compared to the newer Three 5G Hub. The Three 5G Hub is sure to be more expensive, but there you’re getting even higher speeds if you have the coverage. ConclusionIf you already had a few LTE routers in hand, the first thing you notice about the Huawei B535 is the comparatively flat design. The body of Huawei 4G Router 3 Pro is made of gray and white plasti and visually unobtrusive. Various LEDs are located on the front, which indicate the operating status. For example, the reception strength is signaled using five bars. There are also LEDs for power, internet, WLAN and LAN.

I've just thrown my ID sim into the router, still working as usual. Its connected to the default apn that still says EE for me. Anyways, I kinda lost interest, I hardly use my mobile phone at all, {except to lookup the time of my bus} so am not so very miffed by not getting Thanks for the firmware info, I found a copy of B535-333 11.0.2.51(H380SP2C21) online & might try to downgrade mine from the slightly later Three version on mine:

B535series

The latency was usually well below 30 milliseconds, and the peak was even less than 20 milliseconds. The reception and transmission power was very good in the test (LTE B3, B7, B20). There is indeed the ability to load balance across ADSL (Plusnet) and 4G (via Huawei), using the USG's two WAN ports. Hence the need to connect the USG to the B535 -- which is what refuses to work .... The connection speeds via LTE and WLAN are good, and the many RJ45 Ethernet LAN connections are commendable. You have to do without a telephone system and a USB connection, but Huawei has installed connections for an external 4G LTE antenna. If you can live with the few functions described, the Huawei B535 is a very good LTE router at a fair price. There are a few main alternatives to the Huawei B535 WebBox. Assuming you’re specifically after a 4G router then there’s the Huawei AI Cube, which is also available on Three, the Vodafone GigaCube, and the 4GEE Home Router 2 on EE. Still, maybe you’ve already got the Huawei B535 WebBox and are wondering whether there’s any need to upgrade, or maybe you’re considering buying it from elsewhere. In either case, our review can help you decide.
