Subsequent studies found that Brontosaurus was actually the same genus. Because Apatosaurus was named first, scientific convention calls for Brontosaurus to be renamed Apatosaurus. For much of the time Apatosaurus may have had to keep its head in line with its body to allow its heart to supply its brain with blood.It may seem like I’m being overly critical of this toy but honestly, if I didn’t like it then I wouldn’t have bought it. I don’t find the toy as aesthetically pleasing, lifelike, or as well proportioned as the Mattel Brachiosaurus but both toys are designed to look like their on-screen counterparts, and I just prefer the Jurassic Park Brachiosaurus over the Jurassic World Apatosaurus. Mattel has done a fantastic job of bringing the Jurassic World Apatosaurus to life and for fans of that movie, this is a must have. Although the Apatosaurus doesn’t resonate much with me, it does play a pivotal and touching role in Jurassic World that resonated with other collectors. Apatosaurus is a dinosaur which lived approximately 150 million years ago during the Jurassic Period. This dinosaur was first discovered in 1877 by Othniel Charles Marsh and was promptly named Apatosaurus ajax. In 1917, a second specimen was found and it was named Apatosaurus louisae. Since then, several specimens have been found in parts of Colorado, Oklahoma and Utah. The name Apatosaurus means “deceptive lizard”. It was given this name by Othniel Charles Marsh because its bones resembled the bones of other dinosaurs, particularly Mosasaurs. Our understanding of dinosaur behaviour is mostly speculation.
