About this deal

They deliver clear and focused images in the center of your field of view, especially when observing stars. However, there might be some curvature noticeable as you move towards the edges of the 5.5-degree field of view. Overall, we think the Skywatcher Action EX 12x50 provides an excellent observing experience.

Meanwhile, the Roof-prism binocular boasts a “H”-shaped appearance that lends well to a smaller, and lighter-weight design. These instruments have complicated optical designs, which means that observers need to spend a substantial amount of money to own a reliable binocular of this type. Unlike the Porro, a good Roof-prism binocular isn’t ideal for those on a budget, or casual observers. What do binocular numbers mean? This roof prism pair of premium-feel binoculars delivers results that are truly outstanding, albeit for a price. That said they’re slim, lightweight and easy to use, while being fogproof and waterproof too, to depths of five metres for up to 10 minutes. Delivering the sort of sharpness that will satisfy the most demanding of wildlife watchers or birders – thanks in part to its ED glass construction – the 10x magnification wedded to 42mm objective lens provides good views into the twilight hours. Inevitably they’re slightly heavier and bigger than the closest 10x30 model in the same series, though. These are affordable skywatching binoculars that would be ideal for anyone just starting out who wants to get the most for their money. While there are some true wins to this model, there are a few reasons why they're on the cheap side, and we discussed them in our Celestron UpClose G2 10x50 binocular review. All of Canon’s current range of binos have the ‘IS’ suffix in their model name to denote the fact they’re image-stabilized binoculars. This battery-operated option enables you to get a wobble-free image by just pressing a button on the binoculars – and the stabilizing effect is both instant and jaw-dropping. prisms are optical components that either disperse light or modify the polarization or direction of light. In the case of binos, they modify the direction of light, so you get an upright image out of the ocular lenses. The inter-pupillary distance or spacing is helpfully manually adjustable, thanks to the binocular featuring a central folding mechanism that allows us to perfectly line them up with our own eyes. Despite the compact proportions the view delivered is surprisingly crisp; thanks in no small part to class-leading ED glass elements. While not a budget option by any means, this model provides plenty of punch for its proportions. This bright, sharp, and reliable model from the Olympus Pro lineup (a new 8x42 version is also available) feature nano coating for the first time in the range. Olympus is renowned for its optical expertise, so it’s no surprise that we get the same high-performance Zuiko optics that it deploys with its camera systems. Indeed, the claim here is these binoculars' optics offer unprecedented light transmittance for their class. This binocular provides excellent color fidelity and detail. The adjustable diopter makes it easy to fine-tune the focus for each user. It also features armored housing that ensures protection against bumps and scratches.

Roof prism binoculars like the Nature DX ED 12x50 are all about saving space, while their porro prism rivals are mostly about value for money. Is Nature DX ED 12x50 worth the extra spend? The considerable extra outlay gets you much better optics than you will find at the entry-level, that's always the case with binoculars. On the Nature DX ED 12x50, you get Celestron's ED glass. ED stands for extra-low dispersion, used on the large 50 mm objective lenses at the end of the tubes. Simply put, the exit pupil is the width of light that exits the ocular lens and eyepiece and is often determined by factors such as the size of the objective lens and the magnification. Typically, the larger the exit pupil, the brighter the image in low light. Also, the exit pupil should always be larger than the pupil of your eye; otherwise, it may introduce darkness in some areas of the image. The Argos G2 is built tough to withstand the rigors of the outdoors, and it comes with a padded carrying case for easy transport. You will get a warranty and customer service for any queries or damages to this pair. The lenses are coated with a multi-coating to reduce reflections and improve image clarity. The body is designed with a non-slip grip for easy handling, even in wet weather. This binocular is ergonomically designed for a comfortable fit, with an easy one-handed operation.Celestron SkyMaster Pro 15x70 BinocularThese binoculars give a superb stargazing experience at a reasonable price. They won’t give you close-ups of planets or reveal the most distant galaxies, but they make up for it by providing dramatic wide-field views in a good, dark sky.★★★★½ Spotting Scopes Swarovski Spotting Scopes Vortex Spotting Scopes Celestron Spotting Scopes Zeiss Spotting Scopes Eyepieces, Mounts, Cases and Accessories Telescopes Celestron Telescopes Telescope Eyepieces, Filters and Accessories

Celestron is a well-respected brand with a strong reputation in the field of technology, and the SkyMaster binoculars, including the 15x70 'giant' model, deliver excellent views at an affordable price. Despite being a bit on the heavy side, these binoculars are durable and we think they offer impressive quality for their cost. Will they suffice or do you need a more expensive pair? That depends on what you're after. Equipped with 10x magnification and 50mm objective lenses, the UpClose G2 10x50 are both powerful and fast, offering plenty of magnification and also able to collect a lot of light. While the extra magnification does reduce the field of view, the images are still relatively stable compared to higher magnification alternatives such as 15x or 20x binos. As such, you can still expect fairly stable images even if you handhold the binos. This makes the 12×50’s ideal for astronomy, looking for prey, or long-range shooting applications, especially if you don’t have a tripod. Features to Consider When Choosing the Best 12×50 BinocularsWith fully coated binos, all lenses and glass elements have at least one coating layer. With multi-coated optics, you find multiple coating layers in at least one of the primary optical elements. Finally, with fully multi-coated optics, all the optical elements have numerous coating layers and thus have the best light transmission. For our Celestron Nature DX ED 12x50 review binoculars, we took them to several events, partly because they are lightweight and compact and they can be carried easily in their padded case. We tested them at a motor race and were delighted with the bright and sharp views, even at dusk.
