In addition, while the controller is the same size as its predecessor, the bumpers and triggers have been rounded and reduced in size by a few millimeters. That makes the gamepad feel less bulky. The hybrid D-pad, on the other hand, aims to provide a middle-ground between the Xbox One controller's classic D-pad and theXbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2's changeable disc-shaped, faceted D-pad.What results is a kind of traditional D-pad, laid over a disc. Ever since the Xbox 360 days, Microsoft have always been a strong contender for the "Best Controller" title with their ergonomic and comfortable designs. The new Xbox controller is no exception in this regard and offers various little improvements over the already strong and reliable design of the previous generation's model. But make no mistake: While both Xbox and PlayStation have released next-gen controllers with their new consoles, only one of them truly feels "next-gen" enough and unfortunately, it's not the Xbox controller this time. Even though the controller is great with some neat new features, it's nowhere near as exciting as the PlayStation 5's DualSense. No More Generations Considering the amount of hands-on time controllers are subjected to it's possible that you'll find it hard to keep yours looking in tip-top condition for years to come.Other color variants of the controller are available though (you'll need to buy these separately, while a white version comes included with the Xbox Series S), and some may be less prone to scuffs. Sometimes the controller disconnects itself. Note, that it has not happened once while I was in the middle of playing. Only when trying to connect one or more controllers (Official Xbox). Maybe a bug on Microsoft's part. And finally, the impulse triggers from the Xbox One controller are also implemented here in a similar fashion. They aren't as immersive or groundbreaking as the DualSense ones, but they still get the job done, especially with shooter and racing titles. Xbox Wireless Controller (2020) Ever so slight change in the design from the previous version, not so drastic that it wont feel like you're holding an Xbox controller but its been squared off at some places to give it a refresh. The controller’s buttons, including the new Share button, can be custom mapped just the way you like using the Xbox Accessories app. Set the Share button to capture screenshots, start/stop recording, or even to record what just happened, then share your best, worst or funniest moments with friends and followers right from the console dashboard or your Android phone with the Xbox app for mobile. Buttons and triggers have a crisp and tactile feeling. No loose bits and pieces rattling like on some cheaper lower end controllers.
