About this deal

Amedium organic sensitivity is usually found in mixed aquariums inhabited with leather and stoney corals (LPS). Filters, sponges, etc. can also be found there. A DOC skimmer that is designed for 1,000 liters (264 USgal.) is likely to only skim 40% of organic substances with this light pollution.

The Tunze 9002 is slightly larger than the 9001, but it still works on the same “Flash Skimming” principle. As its engine whirs, it pulls water into a small chamber and adds air to create a steady stream of foam. This foam collects scum before it can settle into the tank and then overflows into a skimmer cup that you can empty to prevent algae and protein build-up. As far as we’re concerned, the Tunze 9001 is a great option for nano-sized reef aquariums between 5.3 and 37 gallons. It’s small, quiet, and doesn’t require much energy to operate, making it perfect for tiny tanks. Additionally, it’s very affordable, making it a great option for budget-minded reefers.

The type of reef aquarium you have – The density of your reef can also affect how powerful of a skimmer you need. If your reef aquarium is prone to accumulating scum and organic matter, you’ve probably considered investing in a new Tunze reef skimmer. By circulating water through a chamber and introducing air into the tank, these skimmers create a foam that traps organic material and small particles. Yet, for it to work, you need the right product. So, should you buy the Tunze 9001 or the Tunze 9002? Nano aquariums have been growing in popularity and new equipment and technology are finally making it easier to have a slice of the ocean on your desk. During Interzoo, Tunze released multiple nano gadgets that turned heads and the Tunze 9001 DOC skimmer was one of them. With a small footprint, super efficient and extremely quiet, we knew we had to put one to the test. Two: There seem to be escaping bubbles. The water next to the skimmer is constantly looking like fizzy soda and it's actually the most hearable noise that's coming from the skimmer right now. There's also small particles of water jumping from that part of the tank. Basically just as if it's fizzy water. Is there a way to fix this? Or is this normal?

Using the Tunze Flash Skimming Principle, the Comline DOC Skimmer pulls water through an efficient surface suction. Though many people do seem to have it working properly... Or they just deal with the noise. Or the fact that it's not skimming properly. In this product review and buyer’s guide, we’ll provide an in-depth look at both the Tunze 9001 and 9002 tank skimmers. We’ll examine their specs and discuss which types of tanks they are best suited for. By the end of this guide, you should have a clearer understanding of which skimmer best suits your needs. Tunze 9001 Product Review The Tunze Comline Doc Skimmer reduces energy consumption and space used on equipment, with a neat compact design that ensures 24/7 high performance. Restoring harmony inside the aquarium, the Tunze Comline Doc Skimmer, recommended for aquariums up to 140 litres, removes all organic pollutants from the water with flash protein skimming that fetches instant results. Thanks to its relatively small and low-energy motor, the Tunze 9001 is incredibly quiet and can run all night without bothering a soul. The only downside to this model is that the skimmer cup can be difficult to remove, making it harder to clean the skimmer. Nevertheless, this is a wonderful option for nano-sized reef aquariums and will quietly work throughout the day and night. Tunze 9002 Product ReviewI played around with it a little more now and did find out that the default position has least microbubbles. In this position I barely have any and with the two others they're allover the place... You do need to put the little sponge in, then.

Thus, a DOC skimmer for 1,000 liters (264 USgal.) should be used for a tank with a maximum content of approx. 600 liters (158 USgal.).The 9002 uses slightly more power, requiring 10 Watts of electricity to pull in 150 liters of air every hour. With a stronger motor, it creates a steadier stream of foam that flows into a 0.3-liter skimmer cup without creating micro-bubbles inside the tank. The foam simply passes into the skimmer cup, helping to keep your tank clean through the week.
