About this deal

For the death penalty to be give all jurors have to agree, it takes just one juror to disagree to prevent the death penalty from being carried out. Two of the books Grisham is most well-known for also happen to be the very first two novels he ever released; The Firm and Time to Kill. The Firm, released in 1991, has sold more than seven million copies. It is the second novel that he wrote and is the gripping tale about a young man named Mitchell V. McDeere who, fresh out of law school, decides to work at a Memphis law firm, appeased by their generous offer of a high salary, new BMW, and nice house with low interest mortgage. The smell of the whiskey and his sweat nauseated her, but she was too frightened to throw up. It might anger him, cause him to use the knife. As she started to accept the horror of the moment, she began to think. Keep it quiet. Don’t wake up the kids. And what will he do with the knife when he’s finished? For his great writing, Grisham has been honored with several awards, including the Distinguished Author Award named after Peggy V. Helmerich, the Galaxy British Book lifetime achievement award, the legal fiction award from Harper Lee, and the USC Scripter award. Nevertheless, Grisham’s writing has not solely focused on crafting novels for adult audiences. He has also written a series of legal thrillers geared at children and pre-teens. Inside John Grisham Novels:

Willie uses his newspaper to crusade -- aptly -- because it's the right thing to do. Also because he knows how to make it lucrative. An old man and an early vote to acquit the boy. The 9th Juror is thoughtful and compassionate, and he closely observes the old man who testifies against the boy, seeing his loneliness and need to feel important. These feelings resonate with the 9th Juror. He also is intolerant of other jurors’ racism. This novel features the usual small town characters with the gossip and rumour mill working steadily. Unusually, the story is told from the point of view of the journalist Traynor who has his finger in a lot of pies. I ended up feeling a bit indifferent about the character who comes across as a bit wishy washy and blah. Just kindof mooching through life without much passion. He uses his newspapers to write some left-wing articles (about the Vietnam war) but the reader is left with a feeling that he doesn't really feel as strongly about the subjects as he is attempting to convey through his writing. Joyner William "Willie" Traynor - the narrator, protagonist, and editor of the local newspaper, The Times. Hank Hooten - another lawyer at the Padgitt trial. He is rumoured to have had a relationship with Rhoda Kassellaw before her death. He later goes insane, killing two jurors and Danny Padgitt.

Following Grisham's other non-courtroom drama's, specifically A Painted House, I see his talent is truly in character development. But, while A Painted House was good, it wasn't like this story. This had a much more satisfying plot, filled with wonderful characters, and an end that was somewhat expected, but that provided an end to a tale and to an era. I recommend this story. The narration was wonderful. Don't go into it expecting the same old Grisham, though. Go into it expecting a good story about people who touch you. However, many more of John Grisham’s books began, and have remained, as standalones. All of these books feature Grisham’s compelling characters and high-stakes suspense, which makes any of them a great John Grisham book to read first. The rattling of the bed woke Michael, who then got Teresa up. They eased from their room and crept down the dark hall to see what was happening. Michael opened the door to his mother’s bedroom, saw the strange man on top of her, and said, "Mommy!" For a second the man stopped and jerked his head toward the children. A house painter. The 6th Juror is convinced that the boy is guilty from the start and remains convinced for much of the deliberation. He is focused primarily on the motive for the murder. He’s also very protective of the 9th Juror and stands up for him when others disrespect him.The Exchange: After The Firm takes place 15 years after the conclusion of The Firm. It promises to follow up with just as many deadly secrets and corporate intrigue with a character that readers around the world fell in love with. The sequel also takes place upon a global stage. A night nurse at a hospital in Harlem who grew up in a poor neighborhood. The 5th Juror is offended at the generalizations that some of the other jurors make about the boy because he grew up in a slum. This John Grisham book series is about Theodore Boone, a 13-year-old who lives in Strattenburg, Pennsylvania. These are young adult books, which tailor Grisham’s legal themes and twists for a younger audience. Theo has spent much of his childhood growing up around the courtroom and knows that he has what it takes to become the best lawyer in the state. Sam Ruffin - eighth child of Calia Ruffin. He had an affair with a married white woman and is afraid to return to Clanton.

Shortly after the death of her husband, Rhoda planned to return to her family in Missouri. She was not from Ford County, nor was her husband. A job took them there. But the house was paid for, the kids were happy, the neighbors were nice, and her family was much too concerned about how much life insurance she’d collected. So she stayed, always thinking of leaving but never doing so. Unlike the previous series in which the prequel short story was written as a follow-up, for the Whistler books the short story prequel was published in anticipation of the first book as promotion. Witness to a Trial introduces the moving parts and pieces of the series with a very brief story. An architect, father, and the single initial “not guilty” vote. The 8th Juror argues that the men should take their time in coming to a verdict. He slowly and painstakingly examines the evidence and testimony to decide if there are grounds for a conviction. The 8th Juror is patient and compassionate, and he often humanizes the defendant in the face of others’ rash, biased judgements. The twelve members of the jury at the center of an enormous lawsuit against a giant tobacco company have been investigated and harassed by lawyers and consultants intent on a verdict. The civil trial is sure to be the most explosive of the century with everyone waiting to hear their decision. But the jury has a leader, and he will be the one who decides the verdict. A master at the art of deft characterisation and the skilful delivery of hair-raising crescendos' – Irish IndependentAfter three years of mourning, however, Rhoda became restless. She was not getting younger; the years were slipping by. She was too young and too pretty to sit at home every Saturday and read bedtime stories. There had to be some action out there, though there was certainly none in Beech Hill.
