About this deal

I don’t like the blueberry and strawberry bars. The strawberry has a strange bitter aftertaste. The flavor of the blueberry is nice but is has an off-putting texture, almost like bran has been added to the bar. Make Ahead & Freezing Instructions: You can refrigerate the cooled bars before cutting into squares, see step 6. Baked and cooled bars freeze well up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and bring to room temperature, if desired, before serving. Fresh Blueberries: It’s best to use fresh blueberries in this recipe. If you’d like to use frozen, follow the recipe as written and sub in frozen blueberries (do not thaw). Keep in mind that the filling will be much juicier.

The case is Medina v That’s It Nutrition LLC. 1-18-cv-02022 filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. April 2018 - 19:17 GMT I think it's pretty obvious that there is not just an apple and berries in a bar. The manufacturers have processed fruit to make it stable at room temperature (not sure of for how long) and of course, now it is a concentrated source of calories from fructose (fruit sugar). Let's take the apple + strawberries bar for an example. In one bar (35 grams) there are 100 calories, 22 grams of carbohydrate, and 17 grams of sugar. This bar is Tiny! 35 grams is 1.32 ounces. Meager! In one whole apple (100 grams - 3.5 ounces) there are 52 calories, 14 grams of carbohydrate, 10 g of sugar. They should not be allowed to spin it to push consumers into thinking that this bar is the equivalent of eating an apple or berries. That’s it bars are made with only fruit. Depending on the flavour, That’s it bars contain one small apple, and a small amount of berries, cherries, or mango. The bars are chunky, and may not be the prettiest of colors but such is to be expected when using real, dried fruit. Don’t be deterred by the aesthetics, because these are really tasty. The flavors currently available are: There's nothing "natural" about a processed bar, although at least there are no artificial colors, flavorings, or preservatives. But apples don't contain these things either. They should call the bar "That's Less Than It" All of the original Fruit Bars have only two ingredients, which are—you guessed it—fruit. The OG bars are composed of an apple and one other fruit to make the flavor pop. From apricot to coconut to strawberry, you can't go wrong with any of the bars. My favorite was the Apple + Banana bar because it reminded me of a slice of banana bread.

Brown Sugar: I love using brown sugar in a dough/crumble like this, because of the moisture and flavor it provides. A near identical lawsuit** has also been filed by the same law firms - Joshua Levin-Epstein of Levin-Epstein & Associates PC, and Spencer Sheehan of Sheehan & Associates PC - against Trader Joe's, about which the retailer has not responded to requests for comment. Dr Lewensztain: We stand by our food and our labeling Bake for about 45–55 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned and the blueberry filling is bubbling around the edges. All of the That’s It products are certified gluten-free and suitable for gluten-intolerant or celiac eaters. I’m used to smooth fruit bars but these Costco fruit bars have chunks in them, I’m not a fan of the extra chunks, they just make the texture odd. I enjoy the taste and flavor of the mango bar but “that’s it” for these. Costco That’s It Mini Fruit Bars CostThe ingredients listed below are for the Apple + Blueberry flavour. See our That’s It Bar Ingredient Chart below for other flavours. These are like a fruit leather or dried fruit bar, I like fruit leathers but these just aren’t that good! There’s three flavors in the bag, strawberry, blueberry and mango. The mango is by far the best and has a flavor very similar to the Kirkland Signature Organic Dried Mangoes.

I was hesitant to try the Apple+Mango+Chili, but after taking a bite, I was quite impressed. The mango had a tropical taste, while the chili's slight heat balanced out the sweetness of the bar. April 2018 - 22:51 GMT There are clearly not just whole apples and blueberries used to make this product. They have been manipulated to ensure shelf life and hopefully food safety. When creating an ingredient line it needs to be clear and transparent to the consumer as to what you are putting in the product. Apple powder is different than apples which is different than apple concentrate. The regulations exist for a reason...He also alleges that, “The inclusion of dried apple and other fruit/vegetable ingredients – powders and pieces – means water must be added to reconstitute or rehydrate them, prior to the time the final product is finished. The products do not indicate the presence of water in the ingredient list, which is misleading. I’m reviewing the That’s It Mini Fruit Bars from Costco today! These fruit bars caught my eye because of the name “That’s it”. I figure a name like that meant they had to have only a few ingredients and be pretty healthy. That's it. also has a newer, trendier upgrade. The three flavors include Apple+Cinnamon, Apple+Pear+Ginger, and Apple+Mango+Chili. Each contain a spicy element to up the flavor an extra notch. The apple with cinnamon adds a nice, warm touch. When heated slightly in the microwave, it was reminiscent of apple pie.

Given that the manufacturing process is proprietary, That's It Nutrition won't want to disclose details via public court filings that could show rivals how it makes its products, he said. Make the crust: Whisk the flour, 1 cup (85g) oats, brown sugar, baking powder, lemon zest, cinnamon, and salt together in a medium bowl. Add the melted butter and stir until the mixture resembles moist crumbly sand and no dry spots remain. You will have a little more than 3 cups of crust mixture, or about 520g. Press 2/3 of the mixture (about 2 cups/345g—doesn’t have to be exact) into the prepared baking pan. Press it into the pan with your hands, a large spoon or spatula, or the bottom of a measuring cup to form a crust. Bake for 10 minutes, and then remove from the oven to slightly cool. All of the bars contain 80-110 calories, plenty of fiber to keep you satisfied, and as much as four grams of protein. All of the bars are vegan, kosher, gluten-free, non-GMO, low in fat or fat-free, and contain absolutely no preservatives. That's it. doesn't mess around with the ingredients we put into our products! You get exactly what you need, without the hazardous additives. A couple things - first, fruits that are dried for storage are not always dried hard - they can contain a fair bit of moisture, softness, flexibility while still being dry enough to be shelf-stable, especially if stored in a well sealed bag or container. The products are currently dubbed “all-natural” but the founder/CEO Lior Lewensztain says that they plan on becoming completely and officially organic in 2017. That’s It Fruit Bars ReviewHarvest Snaps are a more nutritious option than traditional potato chips. Compared to potato chips, Harvest Snaps are baked instead of fried and contain less saturated fat and sodium. However, Harvest Snaps are still considered a processed food and are best consumed in moderation. Read the full review here. The following blog post is a review that originally appeared on Spoon University. This version was slightly edited for thatsitfruit.com. The case is Jamison v Trader Joe’s Company and Trader Joe’s East, Inc 1:18-cv-02216 filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, Can I Bake This in a 9×13-inch Pan? You can, but I have had better results baking a smaller batch, as written, in the 9-inch pan. If you want to make a larger batch, double each ingredient (only use 8 cups of blueberries) and bake in a 9×13-inch pan. Increase crust pre-bake time to 18 minutes. Increase the bake time after adding the filling & crumble topping to 1 hour, or until filling is bubbling. However, the nutrient concentration comes along with the downside of sugar concentration. Dried fruit is sweeter, which is nice taste-wise, but it shouldn’t be eaten as often as fresh fruit. Think of it as a really healthy treat.
