I actually saw a cardinal for the first time in my life last week; they don’t live on the west coast of the US and since I’d never lived anywhere else, I’d never really encountered one. We got our first snow in my town a couple weeks ago, and there he was just sitting in a tree as fat and red as can be. It made me tear up, he was so pretty and had such a nice song.
