Young Adult Snake Books A Crown of Wishes (The Star-Touched Queen #2) byRoshani Chokshi The villagers of Shengmei, her birthplace, followed every day of her trial in the news; some volunteered to do jail time on her behalf Kali is the son of a snake catcher, and that makes it hard for him to make friends in his village. Verdi by Janell Cannon You are free to walk your youngster through the lovely illustrations in the book. We also encourage parents to read the short passage to their youngsters before bed or when they are both settling in for the night. This book vividly depicts the fascinating and astonishing world of snakes. Fascinating information about these lovely creatures’ biology, senses, eating habits, and more are between the covers.

Lighthearted, anecdotal, and conversational, this text may not be the first book you gravitate toward to when you are looking for info on snakes. However, it is a text you do not want to miss out on…Sorry not sorry, I have to put this on the list for this cover alone, I mean COME ON. Ninth House is one of the most anticipated books of the year, and rightfully so. It’s the first adult fantasy book by the dazzlingly-talented Leigh Bardugo, and tells the story ofGalaxy “Alex” Stern. Alex is the sole survivor of a multiple homicide, and while in the hospital, is offered a chance to attend Yale University on a full ride. Of course, there’s a catch: Alex must monitor Yale’s famoussecret societies. There is already fan art of this book, and some of it features snakes, so… The conclusion is what you’d expect to happen, but even when we get there, you’ll see how well Godey has wiggled in unexpected results. I gotta stay spoiler free but I was smiling at the end. As the best introductory book about snakes we recommend The Book of Snakes: A Life-Size Guide to Six Hundred Species from Around the World by Mark O’Shea. The only complaint is that this hasn’t been updated with current information on snake families. Pros and Cons of Snakes of the United States and Canada by Carl H. Ernst and Evelyn M. Ernst Pros

If there’s a complaint, it’s that there’s only one photo of each species, and the “life-size” description is a rather subjective term that depends upon the age and sometimes subspecies of the snake in question. Miscellaneous Snake Books

It’s all about the biology. However, writing and illustrations were not sacrificed to accommodate the technical details. This comprehensive guide covers the states east of the Mississippi, from Wisconsin to Mississippi eastward to the Atlantic coast. This book includes beautiful photos of all known snake species in the region, maps showing their geographic range, and complete profiles of each species. Each profile includes all the information a non-biologist needs to correctly identify a snake. If you’re looking for a good guidebook about snakes then we suggest U.S. Guide to Venomous Snakes and Their Mimics by Scott Shupe.

How to Vote

It combines intriguing visuals with straightforward text to make learning about snakes fun and exciting for kids. The “life-size” description is a subjective term, depending on the age and subspecies of the snake. I don't know anything about John Godey. Reading "The Snake," I got the distinct impression that he's either spent a lot of time covering city politics for a daily rag, or he knew people who did. He likes his athletic stripes and bright yellow skin. In addition, every green snake he encounters is uninteresting, unpleasant, and lethargic. Verdi tries every method in the book to get rid of the pale green stripe that runs the length of his body. He just gets himself into more difficult situations. Verdi becomes green despite his attempts, but he is delighted to learn that this does not need to change who he is! This gem is for people who love the snakes in the southwestern states. It has information for people who may want to keep these snakes as pets, but it mostly talks about conservation, biology, habitats, and different species – including invasive species.
