The reason I wanted to go over all of this (I know it’s boring) is because choosing the style and hanging method is the most important part of the entire process. Curtain rods, or poles, are the classical solution used in many homes. They tend to be more visible than other solutions. Therefore, you have to think of them as part of the décor, rather than just a support mechanism for your favourite drapes. Sidebar:I washed all of my RITVA curtains after we flooded, and they all shrunk!! And how did I know this – well because I measured all of them.TIP #2:The RIKTIG hooks are an optional method used for creating pinch pleats – to be used with curtain rings.
Remember that we turned the curtain hook upside down, so we aren’t exactly using it the way it was intended; if we use the hook the way it comes, our curtain ring will be parallel to the curtain and, more critically, to the curtain rod.

pinch pleat is the same as French pleat. Two prong pleats are good for showing off a patterned fabric and using more drapery rings. Grommets are casual and more modern. Pleating to the top makes the drapery appear to be directly attached to rings. Much better – right? The curtains just add a simple, “finished” touch to the room without screaming for attention. As you may know, IKEA’s curtains come un-hemmed. The raw edge is finished with the serger, and you can cut off and/or hem as needed to the right length.
After you have both ends with hooks inserted, fold the curtain in half to find the middle, or the midpoint. Now that you know you’re window measurements, it’s time to choose your curtain style, and how you will hang it. NOTE: If you want these whiter, wash them again. They were a softer “white linen” color after one wash, and they were worked with my color scheme.
