Anyways, moving on to my actual suggestion to cycling your tank. Since you want the tank to be specifically for discus, which allegedly prefer more acidic water, just make sure that when cycling you set your pH to where you want it to be as if you already have discus in. A lot of guides may suggest raising pH during the cycle, and that definitely should be what is done for fish the (allegedly) prefers higher pH, but not for those with lower pH requirements.
