Cases have continued to rise in some regions of the US and to fall in others. Very recently, the omicron variant was discovered, and much more needs to be learned before we have an understanding of the potential impacts. So, I have no idea yet as to how that may factor into my travel decisions going forward. This was a period of tremendous growth and development in the piercing world, and a time of many "firsts" as we experimented with the possibilities of piercing the body. It was just before piercing started to become an industry, rather than just a single, highly unusual specialty shop! Some things worked better than others, and we pursued what was successful. Navel piercings were virtually unheard of! And it is to my roots that I have returned. I used to tour regularly around the U.S., guest piercing at the studios of my colleagues, since I no longer have my own premises. However, since the Covid pandemic I have curtailed my travels. At this point my plan for the foreseeable future is to pierce twice annually in Detroit. It is because during the early years of modern body piercing, the PA was the most popular male genital piercing. Many heavily pierced men describe the Prince Albert as their favorite. Instead of a flat, pierceable surface, many men have a cordlike web in the center of the area where the Prince Albert is worn. In this case, the piercing can sometimes be set a little further down the shaft, or, more commonly, slightly off to one side. The web should be avoided because penetrating it makes an unstable, uncomfortable PA and tends to result in little flaps of cut tissue. If the skin is not webbed, then the piercing can safely go right in the center (if no visible blood vessels are present). Sometimes PAs are placed unnecessarily off to the side, probably for the same reason that a lot of so-called “pros” don’t pierce the midline under the tongue: poor training. Does Leviticus Condemn Piercings?

There has been some confusion about the name of this piercing following a popular social media post in which people thought it was called a "double dyed piercing," a "double Diego piercing," or even a "double diet coke piercing." The correct name is dydoe, coined by piercing pioneer Doug Malloy as a play on the word "doodad." I do an extensive amount of research on SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, and based on the medical and scientific findings, there was no other conclusion to be reached. Just this week, the U.S. continues to set records for new coronavirus case numbers, and hospitalizations are up (so it isn’t just from expanded testing). A new study shows that approximately 1 in 10 cases suffers from an ongoing illness. [i] Even mild cases can have distressing and long-lasting effects. [ii] I would really like to avoid any of that. NOTE: If we are going to get out of this mess, more people need to get vaccinated! If you haven't already, do it now! Encourage others to do so.
