I take exception to the notion that it will not continue to build up because I've had to discontinue using it on certain parts of a valuable mouthpiece because it was filling in the maker's marks. I also don't use it on facings except for maybe one application for the same reason - build-up that will alter the facing. It would be technically possible to do a whole sax with it and while this would require disassembly, it would in no way require an overhaul or repad. Completely cover the metal with the solution on the cloth. Apply liberally to ensure a high-quality finish. Protective gloves . This is mainly to prevent the solution from staining your hands and fingers a pretty unpleasant yellow hue. I ask only because, Hamilton House silver secret....which since covid apparently no longer exists....was a very good spot-chemical plating solution. It worked well in 75% of the cases I ever used it, and I had used it probably on a good 2 dozen horns. There were threads discussing it with comments similar to yours here...but the reality was...while certainly the chem plater provides a result which is thinner than an electroplate...it was not 'easily worn off' in reality.
