Design-wise, I prefer this LG UltraFine Display to the design of the model with the same name currently sold in Apple Stores. The bezels are slimmer, there’s way more I/O, the screen is less reflective, and the stand is more attractive.

What we love about the LG 32UL950 is its performance in gaming, since it can handle motion quite well despite the limited refresh rate. The monitor’s pixel transition time is agile enough to avoid irritating image retention or ghosting, although there are a few trails here and there. We think its forgivable due to the 60Hz refresh rate, so looking for something better will point you in the direction of either TN-based options or the super expensive 144Hz segment. UHD 4K resolution displays breathtaking clarity and fine detail with four times the resolution of Full HD. Plus this monitor is designed to work with compatible calibration devices* that ensure precise adjustments of color, brightness and more. Outside of the screen size, the biggest advantage of this display is the amount of I/O present on the rear panel. With dual Thunderbolt 3 ports and a host of other I/O, there’s plenty here to satisfy most use cases.

Nano IPS monitors have been superb so far when it comes to accuracy and vibrancy, but this monitor somehow manages to drop behind its Nano IPS comrades. It’s a bit disappointing that the slower, yet more capable LG 32UD99 beats this newer variant in some critical aspects, such as gamut coverage and color representation. Typical gaming monitors have response times ranging from 1 to 6 milliseconds, which is considered fast enough for most gamers. However, based on our hands-on experience with various monitors, we prefer higher-end monitors with response times as low as 0.5 milliseconds. This lower response time provides even smoother and more responsive motion, ensuring an immersive gaming experience.
