The furniture inside looks excellent though, including two radiators and an accurate desk which is cleverly constructed by clipping the supports to the wall. On to the apartment itself, and it begins much the same as some of the recent Ideas sets –like 21319 Central Perk (we promise we’ll stop talking about this set now) or 21324 123 Sesame Street – by constructing the floor space. It’s built here using a number of large plates, which are then covered with tiles of various sizes, save for a few exposed studs to allow for walls, furniture and minifigures to eventually be attached. These exposed studs are few and far between, and fans of the smooth, studs-not-on-top aesthetic will be very happy. Kramer's questionable installation of the Commando 8 air conditioner is represented as well, since the air conditioning unit is situated in the window. This assembly includes superb detail and features the Commando 8 branding outside the window. Otherwise, the exterior is notably unfinished, again matching earlier sitcom-based models and reflecting the nature of Seinfeld's studio filming location. It’s the units around the apartment, though – the kitchen cupboard and bookshelves – that are the most enjoyable builds. They’re intricate sub-assemblies that fit together almost like a jigsaw puzzle, crammed full of representations of books, mugs, juice and trinkets – all of which look just like the real thing in Jerry’s on-screen apartment. George Costanza captures marvellous detail from the onscreen character as well, recreating George's recognisable hairstyle with splendid texture. The head conveys great expression too, although no second face is provided because this hair component would not cover the reverse. Perhaps an entirely separate head could have accompanied the minifigure, displaying a more neutral face.Viewing the apartment from behind reveals the surprising complexity of the kitchen, where the sand blue cabinets and microwave are ingeniously built into the external wall. The mismatched colours and conspicuous bulges are quite unsightly, but that appears consistent with the source material and earlier sitcom-based sets, where detail has invariably been focused inside.

UPDATE ( 21/7): The LEGO Ideas Seinfeld set is now available on LEGO.com for LEGO VIP members, ahead of a general release on 1 August 2021! A total of 1,326 pieces are spread across nine numbered bags and, as is the case with all recent LEGO Ideas sets, the instruction manual contains information about the long-running series and the cast of characters that appear within the set: Jerry, best friends George and Elaine, next-door neighbour Cosmo Kramer and Jerry’s arch-nemesis Newman. Seinfeld is a classic sit-com and a cultural icon that was huge in the 90s and still stands the test of time today. The combination of the quirky characters and the nostalgia of the show is the perfect fit for LEGO and when we saw the concept we just knew we had to make it. I am so excited to see how this has been brought this to life in LEGO form and the attention to detail from the furniture to some of the minifigures accessories.”Where this set shines, though, is through the intricate details spread throughout that not only offer up some creative parts usage, but are also very accurate to the source material. While regular LEGO sets can sometimes lean on the same techniques when building smaller interior details, Ideas sets always feel like the designers have been thinking outside the box. The minifigures are going to be the biggest drawcard with Jerry Seinfeld (with an excellent new mullet hairpiece), Kramer who utilises the new “Matthew Ashton pompadour hair”, George Costanza with his iconic red parka, Elaine Benes and Newman.
