About this deal

Series 21 is an exceptionally strong lineup of minifigures, and this “less is more” approach by LEGO to Collectible Minifigures makes a lot of sense. I’m glad they waited this long because they did everything right with the Beekeeper, such as his Beekeeper mask, which is an awesome new minifigure accessory that completely envelopes the minifig’s head. The Centaur Warrior’s legs are in a shade of light brown, and are just begging to be amassed as they make the perfect Centaur Army builder minifigure. The Vengestone warriors, with trans-pink legs & arms, and new moulded heads, which have trans-pink elements fused within are a treat – the moulding and printing quality is outstanding, and I also like the pink armour piece on the Vengestone Guard, which jazzes him up slightly.

This Ninja and villain battle playset makes a great birthday, Christmas or any-time gift for ninja heroes kids aged 9+ years oldThe canopy’s sloping shape works really well here, giving it very organic look – it’s just designed really well, with minimal elements to get the shape right. And last but not least, we have the sole Ninja going up against The Crystal King – Lloyd comes with an exclusive new torso, which has some really nice printing on it – I really like the mix of patterns on his robes. All in all, this is a set that certainly showcases a lot of the brilliant and creative ideas behind this new wave, not to mention the designers' character- and creature-making skills. But it's still not quite as exciting to me on its own as some of the other sets from this wave. I'm still not sure which of this wave's sets I want to seek out, but I have to be a bit choosy about how many sets my wife and I have space for, so being an attractive and fun-looking build isn't necessarily enough for a set like this to earn a place on my wish list. Kids charge into battle to take on The Crystal King Centaur NINJAGO figure and the 3 dangerous warriors by his side: Be Brave! Be Ninja!

Six golden ribs are wrapped around the torso, clearly identifiable with the Crystal King. These stand out beautifully against the trans-pink canopy element underneath, appearing for the first time in this colour. However, my favourite feature is actually the waist structure, which perfectly combines 1x2 curved wedge slopes to present an interesting shape. These parts slot together almost seamlessly. It does work best when paired with another “big good guy set” like 71775 Nya’s Samurai X Mech, or even 71774 Lloyd’s Ultra Gold Dragon. You can flip the mask up to reveal the Crystal King’s face, which is suitably frightening. And reminds me of a certain Overlord… The playset comes with interactive digital building instructions to make the building experience even more fun. Available in the free LEGO Building Instructions app for use on smartphones and tablets, the zoom and rotate tools help kids visualise the model as they build. Builders can also save their progress at any point on the app. With LEGO NINJAGO toys kids can choose from a large selection of dragons, figures, temples, mechs and vehicles to enjoy the fun with their ninja heroes. She has really cute facial expressions, including a beaming smile, which I think looks fantastic at translating the joy of her pretending to soar through the skies.
