Before reading this, I already admire and love Yuuji as a shonen protagonist. This story reminds me why do I feel that way towards him. Yuta Okkotsu is a nervous high school student who is suffering from a serious problem—his childhood friend Rika has turned into a Curse and won't leave him alone. Since Rika is no ordinary Curse, his plight is noticed by Satoru Gojo, a teacher at Jujutsu High, a school where fledgling exorcists learn how to combat Curses. Gojo convinces Yuta to enroll, but can he learn enough in time to confront the Curse that haunts him?

Akutami wrote the series with no themes to follow but wanted to write and draw cool-looking characters. They were often supported by their two editors while writing the manga. The manga was a commercial success in both Japan and North America. Critical response to the manga was generally positive; several reviewers praised Yuta's role and his relationship with Rika. Critics found Yuta more compelling than Jujutsu Kaisen 's Yuji Itadori who, while having several similarities with Yuta, has different characterizations. The relationships of the main cast were also well-received and the manga's artwork was praised. This light novel, written by Kitaguni (with original story by Gege), includes a series of short stories of our favorite characters from the original manga. Gojo explains Rika did not curse Yuta; rather, when Rika died, Yuta accidentally cursed her using hidden energy he inherited from the figure Sugawara no Michizane, forcing her to remain by his side. Rika peacefully passes to the afterlife, asking an apologetic Yuta to live a full life. Yuta continues his work as a sorcerer with his friends, still wearing Rika's engagement's ring. Resurrection Puppet - Gojo accompanied Nanami in a mission to exorcise a "puppet" who claimed to be able to resurrect the deads. I really love this story--Gojo is as annoying-but-funny as usual and getting on Nanami's nerves (but they are good friends, after all). The Hardworking Ijichi-sensei - A story about Yuuji who spent a day following Ijichi-san to many places to work. I LOOOOVE this story. Ijichi-san may not be a popular character, but he's an ordinary adult among the "specials" one and that makes him so relatable to many other adults who read JJK like me. This story explained to us how was the administrative works behind the exorcising or fighting events in JJK and make us understand how important the auxiliary managers were and why the Jujutsu Sorcerer Society needed a lot of them. It was simple but perfect to portray Yuuji's characterization. In the manga and anime, he's always portrayed as kindhearted, sympathetic, perceptive, and understanding, but this story (along with the fourth story) affirmed it by providing other good examples. This person's translations of chapters 1 and 2 are smoother and read more easily than the previous translations. However, the previous translations contain more extensive translator's notes at the end, so you might benefit from skimming those. I was so curious to discover the novel adapted from one of my favorite mangas of all times. It compiles 5 separate stories following Yuuji & Megumi, Gojo & Nanami, Mahito, Yuuji & Ichiji and Yuuji by himself. They’re basically bonus scenes set in between the events from the main storyline of the manga. I love that they each had a different mood, going from funny to philosophical to a bit horrifying. There's nothing too fancy about the stories, no big fight scene, or originality in the plot. But they were still very entertaining to read. The Jujutsu Kaisen television anime premiered in October 2020. Crunchyroll streamed the anime outside of Asia as the anime aired in Japan, and has also streamed dubs in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and German. Fables from the Dark - Mahito's story when he encountered a "weird" human being who had given up everything in life. I didn't really like Mahito he killed Nanami, for God's sake!! but as a character, he's a great one (plus, Shimazaki-san voiced him!). The positive response to Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, however, led him to turn the series into the main manga, Jujutsu Kaisen. When starting this series, Akutami had not planned any themes for the narrative but had the idea of giving the characters a cool appeal. The narrative of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 became connected with the other manga, with the final chapter being conceived as soon as he started writing it.
