About this deal

Jetboil stoves are a great investment if you’re looking for a simple, fast way to boil water while camping. E.g., 2 x people eating 3 hot meals a day, including a drink (6 litres of boiling water) per day = 60 grams of fuel per day or 19.5 mins of burn time. Precut and prepare your ingredients before starting the Jetboil stove to save fuel. What you’re cooking, and for how long

In other words, isobutane provides the advantage of working longer in colder weather than butane does. Do JetBoil Stoves Work in Cold Weather? Start threading the Jetboil CrunchIt onto the canister until you hear it release any remaining gas. Eg: 1 x person eating 2 hot meals including a drink (2 liters of boiling water) per day = 20gms of fuel per day or 6.5 mins of burn time.Jetpower fuel can be recycled at your local recycling centre. However, you must ensure the canisters are completely empty before recycling them. It should be noted that Jetboil publishes a warning on the sides of their Jetpower fuel canisters that says not to refill them. Also if you are using Jetboil fuel as your supplying canister, you can smell for leaks in the transfer process, as the manufacture adds in a foul smelling chemical for safety. Any fuel canister with an “EN417” nozzle will work with JetBoil stoves. This is a common standard that includes isobutane/propane fuel canisters from MSR, Primus, GasOne, and Snowpeak. You can also use butane/propane mixtures, such as Coleman. Basically, as long as the canister fits, it will work.

Ultimately, whatever fuel you choose, or have access to, doesn’t make much difference. If you’re camping in temperatures above 30°, I’ve found that all the camping stove fuels are similar.

The colder it is, the harder it is for any gas canister to produce the pressure to burn well. Wind will blow your heat away, and large volumes of water will take longer to heat to the desired temperature and use more fuel. Well, first, I should mention that if you’re planning on cooking meals in cold weather, the best type of camp stove is one that doesn’t rely on a canister’s pressure at all. No matter how good the fuel mixture, it will eventually be unable to maintain pressure if it gets cold enough. When that happens, you won’t be able to create a flame on any camp stove. However, Jetboil isn’t the only brand offering this fuel mixture, and the Lindal valve is a standard international specification (EN417). I’ve listed some alternative brands of fuel that fit a Jetboil below. Reasons behind Jetboil’s fuel choice A head to head test with the GSI Outdoors Glacier Stove showed that the Jetboil MiniMo can be as much as 5 times more efficient during windy conditions.
