As an all-in-one gloss paint and primer, it’s suitable for use on bathroom tiles due to its superior durability in conditions where water is prevalent. We tested it in the grey version – a medium smoky tone that provided excellent coverage after a couple of coats (as it’s a thin primer, one coat was a bit patchy). We liked its speedy drying time – around an hour before another coat – and there was no strong smell, plus we could wash brushes using soap and water.

However, there are a few things to know about painting tile before diving in. According to Bob Thomas, professional painting contractor and CEO at Hearth and Petals, “Painting tile is different than painting drywall or wood since tile has a non-porous, water-resistant glazed surface that paints can’t easily adhere to.” The Best Tile Paint Palatine Professional Gloss Tile Paint is a solvent based paint with increased adhesion strength compared to our professional gloss paint. Due to this, the tile paint can be applied directly to tiled surfaces.
The paint went on easily and, although we needed two coats to cover the pattern on our tiles, dried to a pleasantly glossy finish.
