About this deal

NOTE: In between sizes? Choose the larger size. Ruffwear suggests getting the larger size Flagline harness for dogs who measure in between sizes. And let's not forget about safety. The harness features a debris-resistant liner to keep your dog comfortable and three leash attachment points for added control. The reflective trim and light loop for the Ruffwear Beacon Light ensure your dog is visible, even in low-light conditions. We loved the color options of the Front Range Harness and were hoping for some fun pinks and purples to be released with the new harness. But color doesn’t affect the functionality and we love the upgrades that have been incorporated into the Ruffwear Flagline Harness.

This harness is solid. The fabric doesn’t snag easy. The base plate (chest plate? Whatever you want to call it underneath your dog!) is not only great protection, but it’s also wonderfully effective for spreading and containing your dog if you need to lift them. Dog Sports Dogs

When the slider is near the body of the harness (the piece with the Ruffwear logo on), it is at its smallest setting. When the slider is near the chest plate (the piece with the fabric loop on it), it is at its largest aperture. This guide will help you measure and fit the Flagline Harness. Getting Accurate Measurements Of Your Dog When we researched different harness types for hiking dogs, we found a couple of research studies that concluded that the less surface area a harness covered, the less it altered a dog’s natural gait. (Our review of this research can be found in our post “3 Tips for Choosing the Best Harness for Your Dog’s Next Adventure.”) Below is an image of the Groundbird Gear harness for comparison with the Flagline Harness pictured above. Padded Handle The Ruffwear flagline was tested in L/XL which fits true to size. It was tested mainly on hikes and in rivers and similar to give evidence to what it was designed for.

So why wait? Give your dog the comfort, control, and freedom they deserve with the Ruffwear Flagline Harness. It's not just a harness; it's a passport to adventure. Features of the Ruffwear Flagline HarnessAnother bonus is that the fixed chest panel actually results in more space between the straps and Glia’s armpit area. Even with full extension of the adjustable chest panel strap on the Webmaster, the Webmaster did not allow as much room as the Flagline Harness does. Highly Adjustable The pictures below compare the Webmaster to the Flagline again. You can see how the belly strap is not connected to the chest straps of the Webmaster. The new design of the Flagline connects these straps with a solid chest/belly panel. This provides much better support when needing to lift the dog by the padded handle. NOTE: We recommend not using any three legged dog harness until the surgery has completely healed and stitches or staples are removed. We have heard of no specific cases where any harness has hampered healing, but we believe direct pressure from the straps may irritate the wound. Please consult your veterinarian with any concerns. The bottom panel disperses the weight of dogs in the harness, for additional comfort when lifted. The bottom also adds stability to the harness, further minimizing shifting.

A note about front-leg amputees: The Flagline is truly the best harness for front-leg Tripawds yet. But keep in mind that without that fourth leg, all harnesses may shift a bit during the day. When sized and properly adjusted, however, all harnesses we carry have minimal shifting. The size small Flagline Harness is intended for dogs with chest circumferences from 22 to 27 inches. Despite Glia being on the high side of that range, we still had plenty of strap left for future adjustments after fitting the harness to Glia’s current size/shape. It’s strong, and reliable, the handle is flush too, which I really appreciate. It’s not the cheapest harness, but it is definitely worth every penny. I love that it’s sturdy, and when it comes to an escape artist dog? This is the only piece of equipment that I would trust. My 100+ lb. Akita recently lost a front leg to cancer. Although he’s adapting really well, he still sometimes stumbles and walking on hard surfaces can be a little tough on him. I’ve tried to provide him with some extra support using various harnesses and it was really tough to find one that give him good support, didn’t hurt me, and did not interfere with the surgery scar. The Flagline hits on all counts. It’s comfortable for him and I can give him constant support during a walk without either of us getting uncomfortable. It took a couple of tries to adjust it, but the online video helped a lot and it went relatively easily. Not all harnesses are suitable for all dogs, or all conditions. So, here’s a few things that I see as being potentially problematic in regards to the flagline. Dirt dwellers The Ruffwear Flagline harness is a game-changer for three legged dogs. It’s the leanest and lightest harness yet, and the only Ruffwear harness that slips over your dog’s head making it the easiest to put on front-leg amputees – regardless of which leg is missing. The Ruffwear Flagline Harness is a Game-Changer for Helping Tripawd Dogs
