There are two versions of Fireman Sam 1: The Hero Next Door and both versions contain a different BBC Video Ident.Version 1 is The Original 1988 Release which contains The 1981-1988 BBC Video Diamond Ident along with a trailer for Fireman Sam 1: The Hero Next Door and Fireman Sam 2: Lost Cat would contain it from when it was originally released in 1988 until it was re-released with The 1991-1997 BBC Video Ident in 1993.

Fireman Sam is a British animated comedy children's series about a fireman named Sam, his fellow firefighters, and other residents in the fictional Welsh rural village of Pontypandy (a portmanteau of two real towns, Pontypridd and Tonypandy). The original idea for the show came from two ex-firemen from London, England, who took their idea to artist and writer Rob Lee who developed the concept, and the show was commissioned.
