DJI achieved this light form factor by teaming a drone that weighs around 150g with a roughly 100g battery. The fact that it doesn't crumble every time it's flown is a wonder, and while lightweight is often associated with cheap quality, the Mavic Mini feels anything but cheap.Be aware that unlike the Spark’s propeller guards which don’t make much difference in its flying abilities, the guard cage makes the Mavic Mini’s flying very sluggish. If you do install the guard cage, there is a setting in the app called “payload” that needs to be turned on...however if you forget, no problem, the Mini automatically detects it anyway and readjusts the flight envelope to a greatly reduced altitude and distance (because of the extra weight). On a hot day, I even had trouble just maintaining altitude. Honestly, when outdoors, I just don’t use the propellers guard cage at all. THEREFORE BE CAREFUL, there is no collision avoidance sensor on the Mavic Mini, unlike the Spark and other more sophisticated drones. We would have loved to have seen USB-C charging on the Mavic Mini, but that's probably our biggest gripe with the drone from a connectivity point of view. DJI Mavic Mini verdict Vision positioning requires non-reflective, discernible surfaces and adequate lighting. Available at altitudes from 0.5-30 m. The vertical and horizontal positioning accuracy is within ±0.1 m.
