It was always used on turbine housing studs too, so well capable of coping with brake caliper temperatures.

Fluoroether-based greases are inert to many substances including solvents, acids, bases, and oxidizers. They are, however, expensive, and are not easily cleaned away. Thorsten Bartels et al. "Lubricants and Lubrication" in Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry, 2005, Weinheim. doi: 10.1002/14356007.a15_423 Lately I use polythene sheet from the plastic bags that my breakfast steamed roll comes in, along with cheapo Taiwanese chassis grease, breaking the "never lubricate wheel bolts" rule in a third way. (THE HORROR.)

Jointly developed by ASTM International, the National Lubricating Grease Institute (NLGI) and SAE International, standard ASTM D4950 “standard classification and specification for automotive service greases” was first published in 1989 by ASTM International. It categorizes greases suitable for the lubrication of chassis components and wheel bearings of vehicles, based on performance requirements, using codes adopted from the NLGI's “chassis and wheel bearing service classification system”: I do that, either by mouth or using a bicycle pump. Compressed air would be better but I don't have that (yet?). I've thought of using a toy balloon but don't remember actually trying it. Clean all components thoroughly prior to applying the grease. For this, you are best to use our gun parts cleaner. GunCer Gun Grease is applied sparingly to the clean components. Use the dosing tip or a small brush to distribute the grease. The applied grease gradually absorbs the oil contained and thus ensures a long-lasting lubrication. GunCer Gun Grease prevents the thread from seizing up on a choke in shotgun extremely well. Soot particles can no longer penetrate the thread and the choke can be unscrewed without any problem.

Surface preparation: The surface must be clean, dry, free of grease and non-corroded. Clean surfaces with Innotec Multisol, Innotec Ultra Clean or Innotec Power Clean.Rand, Salvatore J., ed. (2003). On the slider pins I use Japanese silicon grease with aluminium rubbed into it and PTFE thread seal tape. On the pistons I've used silicon grease but I have some red rubber stuff I'll probably use next time I strip them.

Ceramic Grease is a durable, high-quality ceramic grease. It has been specially developed for applications requiring high pressure and temperature resistance. This product has a wide range of uses and applications including: spark plug threads, cylinder head bolts, exhaust systems, battery terminals, wheel nuts, suspension and steering parts are other areas where this product can be used. Solid additives such as copper or ceramic powder are added to some greases for static high pressure and/or high temperature applications, or where corrosion could prevent dis-assembly of components later in their service life. These compounds are working as a release agent. [7] [8] Solid additives cannot be used in bearings because of tight tolerances. Solid additives will cause increased wear in bearings. Greases are applied to mechanisms that can be lubricated only infrequently and where a lubricating oil would not stay in position. They also act as sealants to prevent the ingress of water and incompressible materials. Grease-lubricated bearings have greater frictional characteristics because of their high viscosities. Only started doing this today and I'd think there'll be situations (e.g. difficult to engage thread, wind) where it won't work, but it seemed potentially sometimes useful.

Given a nut to fit in a difficult to reach spot where if dropped it would be gone, I put it in a small plastic bag. The thread could still be engaged through the plastic and, once started, the bag could be torn free, but the chances of losing the nut, while not eliminated, were much reduced. The Accord takes unreachable engine spaces to the next level, though I daresay newer cars are worse. And if changing plugs, just before the old plug is 'unthreaded' and removed, blow hard down a length of narrow tubing to blow out any dislodged debris which might fall into the combustion chamber. Bet garages don't do this during a 'service'.
