About this deal

Want to swap out one of the light fixtures in your ceiling for a ceiling fan? It’s definitely possible, but you’re going to need a ceiling fan support brace. Electronic switches are matched to fans by flipping code toggles in the controls and the fan, just like with your garage door opener. Installing an electronic switch is a snap. The receiver drops right into the fan housing and plugs into the bottom of the motor. The following ceiling fan installation guide from Hunter Fan should help you navigate the process of how to install a ceiling fan with step-by-step instructions for removing an existing fixture, ensuring proper ceiling fan wiring, and more. When referring to our ceiling fan installation guide, keep the following in mind: To safely cap off wires not being used, install the dummy terminal included with the light cap. Attach the terminal to the ends of each wire located in the lower switch housing. Feed the light pull chain through the hole located in the center of the finial cap. Then, feed the fan pull chain through the hole located in the side of the cap.

Leave the existing switches in place and turn one of them on. Then use a remote control to control the fan and lights. Standard Downrod Mounting: Standard downrod mounting is used on ceilings that are at least eight inches high. Instead of being mounted flush to the ceiling, standard downrod mounting include a metal rod, known as a “down rod,” that is between the fan’s mount and the hub (where the fan blades are located). Standard downrod mounts are usually 3 to 5 inches in length, ideal for ceilings between eight and nine inches in height. Most of the time, the wires that fed a previous ceiling fan wiring light fixture are adequate for hooking up a new fan. If you have a ceiling fan wiring arrangement that’s different from ours and you are unfamiliar with wiring techniques, consult an electrician or building inspector for help. To install the light shades, first, loosen the thumbscrews. Then, lift each shade to the light fixture and insert and tighten each thumbscrew. When mounting a ceiling fan, you’ll need to use either drywall or gypsum board. Gypsum board is the better choice as it’s less expensive and more durable than drywall. If you choose to use drywall, make sure to use a mesh type of wall membrane as this will help prevent sound from traveling into the room.

If you want the ceiling fan to be controlled from a light switch, you must first verify that the switch is wired properly for the fan. Reinstall the set screw and use pliers to tighten it. To avoid injury, do not hand-tighten the set screw. Ring plate mounts are suitable for a broad range of commercial and industrial exhaust applications as they are made from galvanised steel.

Patio, garden, bathroom and commercial use

The videos and instructions included within the guide generally apply to the installation of most Hunter fans, however the directions for your specific fan model may differ slightly. Install the motor and blades inside their respective housings, which are typically attached by bolts on one end of each unit; make sure that they’re properly aligned with each other so that when turned on at full speed (or low speed), all blades remain parallel to each other without wobbling around freely. Ceiling fans have to be properly anchored to an electrical box in the ceiling that is intended to hold a heavy fixture. It must not only hold the electrical wiring, but it also needs to be able to support the weight of the fan.

Connect the lower and upper switch housing with the connectors. Make sure you align the colored markings on the connectors. You don’t have to be a “Casablanca” aficionado to appreciate the elegance a ceiling fan can bring to your home. And you can enjoy a fan all year long as it creates a welcome breeze in the summer and circulates warm air in the winter. Installing a combination support brace/junction box doesn’t require a bunch of tools or heavy demolition. Here’s how to do it. Steps for Installing a Ceiling Fan Brace Step One: Turn Off the Power If everything goes well, you can put up a ceiling fan in a couple of hours, including cleanup. In most cases, the whole job will take only a hammer, a screwdriver, a 3/8-in. nut driver and a wire stripper.Choose any two holes in the switch housing mounting plate to screw two of the housing assembly screws halfway. Feed only the light pull chain through the finial. Attach the finial to the threaded rod and tighten by hand. Standard junction boxes can’t support the full weight of a ceiling fan. Without extra support, your ceiling fan will probably fall out and rip right through the drywall. A ceiling fan support brace reinforces the structural integrity of a junction box so the fan stays in place.

Extended Downrod Mounting: In spaces with ceilings that are more than nine feet high, extended downrods are needed to ensure that the fan hangs at the appropriate height to allow for efficient air circulation. The exact length of the downrod will depend on the specific height of your ceiling (more on this below).GLS (if available): Sustainable, reliable transport of parcels is the utmost priority for the GLS Group. Logistics hubs and parcel shops throughout Europe guarantee convenient, smooth transport of your parcels. Verify that the electrical box holding the fan in place is fan-rated. Ceiling fans are notoriously heavy and should not be installed without the appropriate electrical box. In some cases, you may have to install a ceiling fan box.
