About this deal

It might well have been said from estate personnel that the reason for the An Cladach moratorium is down to the Bible but unless all recent bothy users were required to complete a survey which questioned 'Where did you find out about An Cladach?' I would say the true closure reason was down to increased (or over in the minds of some) use and not specifically the book.

Wood paneling and whitewashed walls greet you inside, and a steep staircase in the centre of an internal wall leads up to a two-room attic lit by skylights. There is also access to a small cloakroom behind the stair. Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together. I did not quote a positive review in the MBA newsletter (although that may be seen by many as a further endorsement) to support the fact that the MBA endorsed the Bothy Bible - please read my post.

Meanwhile, there has at yet been no agreement on any agreement with regards An Cladach. However, the Estate have said that they wish to close the bothy (its not clear atm how) from Sept to March starting from next year, due to inconsiderate parking by a minority of bothy users and the distress caused to the owner by persons asking how to get to the bothy. I expect that to be the case. It was in the 1930s that bot Unless you are planning to arrive by kayak, or take a boat trip from the Kylesku Hotel, there is no direct route to Glencoul. Approaches from West and North both require concentration and good navigation skills, particularly in poor weather conditions. Key Attractions:

Four fairly straightforward demands. I look forward to seeing them put forward as motions and debated and voted on at the next AGM. Can't think why this hasn't happened before. (Actually I can.) Then, in 2009, when the MBA first launched an on-line guide to the location of the bothies, it occurred to me that there should be a guide book. Prior to this time, you needed to be member of the MBA to gain information about the whereabouts of the bothies or figure it out by word of mouth. A family lived in the house next to the bothy (which was used as a school for the children) during the late 19th century until the 1950s. The bothy itself is small, containing two rooms, a common area with a fireplace, and a bedroom that sleeps four (maybe more at a squeeze). Located close to the bothy is Eas a Chual Aluinn (waterfall of the beautiful tresses), the UK’s highest waterfall with a sheer drop of 200 metres.Ronnie" - who only joined WalkHighlands to start this thread - knows exactly what I am talking about.[/quote] If this thread has achieved one thing above all others it will have put people off getting involved in the MBA. If it had as big a readership it would probably do more damage than has allegedly been done by the evil book.

https://www.mountainbothies.org.uk/bothies/location-map/ Nigel Corby/Corrour Bothy Where can I find a bothy? Are you saying that the 'arrangement' with Allan and his book is 'ethical' now given the fact that this has lead to a bothy closure. To follow your logic what would you say if Oxfam took cash from an arms company? Multi-day possibilities include camping at the old bothy at Culra, or a station-to-station trip from Rannoch to Corrour as described in Classic Walks.

The walk to this beautifully remote bothy begins at the end of the road at Arnish. Although there are brief instructions on how to get there in the Bothy Bible, they are not very detailed and make the walk sound a lot easier than it is.
